Definite scam. If in doubt log into your PayPal account (DO NOT USE ANY LINK PROVIDED IN THAT EMAIL) and see if anything fishy has been made. I'd be willing to bet you see nothing unusual.

Of course there's a place to click. if you follow the link, it will even look like a Paypal sign on screen. Once they get you to "sign in", they're off to the races with your password. This is a scam.

One of the things I don't like about Paypal is that your e-mail address is your ID. So a scammer already has half the information he needs to take it to the bank. My suggestion is to log into Paypal by directly entering Paypal.com on your browser. Once you're logged in, go into your profile and sign up for two factor authentication. Once this is active, Paypal will text a challenge code to your cell phone. You will need to enter that on a secondary logon screen before you can enter Paypal. That way, even if you slip up and lose control of your password, a bad guy would also need your cell phone to do anything.

Paypal has been having security problems I believe. As they get me to verify anytime I order something for the last while. I am no longer using paypal much anyways.

Shipping costs to Canada especially have eroded most advantages of sites like the American ebay for me.

Wasn't there a huge hack into Paypal a few years ago exposing a boat load of people's personally identifiable data?

I just took your advice and set up the two factor identification. Took about 60 seconds after I logged in. Thanks.

There's a history of huge hacks wherever you look. You can check your e-mail address at:

https://haveibeenpwned.com/

In this case, knowledge isn't power. If you've had your e-mail address for a while, then you've been pwn'd many, many times. And there's not thing one you can do about it, other than the usual routine of changing passwords. Keep your credit reports locked. It's a pain in the neck if you ever need to apply for credit, but it's the only way to make the credit bureau system work in your defense.

X 1,000 for this .

One of my mates from the 1960's told me this and it was a medium PIA as I don't ken computers very well but so far so good .

When I logged into paypal I found more money in my account than expected. So I guess that is a good sign.

So today I got a request from paypal supposedly to verify that I ordered a coat. and to click here if not. They asked me to verify a bunch of stuff and told me i did not know my dogs name nor my father's middle. After f ing around with it for a half hour I gave up. It tells me to chnage my password but refuses to let me in. it asked me for my credit card number to verify my account.....seemed like a bad idea.
