Sad Benz !!!
This afternoon my daughter got into an accident while driving her her 300TE.
My daughter is OK. Thank God for that. Her car is going to the body shop tomorrow morning. Fortunately she was driving a Benz. Unfortunately her rates will go up (and guess who pays???)

Look at the plus side:
She is OK, and probably learned a new driving skill - or at least what to avoid and the need for good defensive driving skills? You hadn't installed the Euros yet (have the body shop do it, and apply the replacement US headlight price towards the Euros - or give them your old US headlights to install on the T and apply the light savings towards the new ins premium!) Since the grill is being replaced, they can spray the new one matte black with matte clearcoat. BTW, did the air bag go off? If not, maybe you can ask for an air bag replacement as the old one is nearing the end of its certified life. Low and Slow, as an A6 pilot once told me! Since the bumper is clean, and the grill is shot, it sort of looks like the reins didn't get pulled in time - maybe somebody pulled in front of her Benz and locked up their brakes looking for a whiplash settlement?

As usual JCE, your advice...
...is right on target.
She did learn a new valuable driving skill...keep your distance from other traffic. I had just put new front brakes and tires in her car. Hopefully that shortened her stopping distance and minimized damage. I had thought about buying Euro lights for her car, now seems to be a good time to do it. I can get TYC lights for a fraction of the price of OE Bosch U.S. lights. Or I can work something out with my old U.S. lights. That was a good suggestion. Thanks. :p The bumper seems to be in good shape. That's a plus. The air bag did not deploy. She was traveling at less than 20 mph at the time of impact. I'll look into getting a replacement bag. She hit the back of a high-rear-end SUV. If you look at the damage from the side of her car, the bumper looks unharmed, while the grille is smashed in...right about the height of the other vehicle's rear bumper. My kid is OK. More embarrased than anything else. She feels bad for "Alice" (the "T"). Thanks for all your good suggestions and comments. Life is about learning....

At about her age I learned that driving skill the hard way - by rear ending an Oxnard CA police car!!! Heavy rain + flooded intersection + following too close + drum brakes = about the same damage as above to my 54 Chevy, none at all to the 1960 Ford Patrol Car. Nice guys, did a report but didn't give me a ticket, never said a word about being only 3 cars back at 40mph in the rain (probably impacted at 5mph or so), blamed it all on the weather! Gave me a couple of 'fatherly tips' about safe distances changing with rain. Won't soon forget that lesson, or my parents/family/friends "you drove into a WHAT?!?"
