Tomato and other plants in 'wicking tubs' effective method

We've recently been watching 'gardening with Leon' videos due to our interest in home grown tomatoes. Leon and others use 'wicking tubs' to reduce frequency of watering and administering controlled doses of fertilizer.

Interesting and seemingly successful method for home and commercial operations. Might allow less worry during longer trips away from home.
