Driving too slow would make me nervous about being hit in the rear, especially on busy urban interstates. 60 is too slow except in rural areas where farm vehicles are common.

Unsafe At ANY Speed

Yes, I worry about being rear ended too ~ too many jerks who drive fast and don't have much control.

Sort of like me @ 15 when I skidded in the rain and bashed into the back of a truck waiting for a red light .

Sure was glad I had my seat belt on ! I still bashed the metal body above the windshield hard enough to dent it, even when I fully repainted the car I left that dent to remind me...

I got rear ended on the Interstate right before I retired. Traffic went from 70 to 0 very quickly. I stopped but not the driver behind me.

Interstate Collisions

Oh, yeah ! they have terrible ones out here every few years, in the Mojave Desert it gets foggy and the idiots don't slow down so it's just a matter of time before one going 80 hits one going slower then there's a mess in one or two lanes and prettydamnquick more fools plow into the mess making it worse and worse .

I remember traveling up North in the 1970's, the Central Valley was the same way : fog or rain reduced visibility and damnfools didn't slow down until there were 35 cars piled up .

When you're young you don't think much about consequences but after seeing all the carnage I have, I try hard to drive better /safer.

Yea me too-I am much more cautious than I used to be. I have not broken a bone in 10 years-a new record:D

Still working on it though .

I have had non displaced fractures on my right thumb and my right pinky. One from being thrown off a motorcycle which had seized a piston, the other from punching a guy on his jaw.

Hand Injuries

When I fell asleep on my Ural Solo sT on the ACH I hit a vertical granite wall at 40 MPH or so and among the other bones broken or crushed I managed to break every single bone in my left hand along with my arm

I was very lucky in that Kaiser happened to have two very skilled neurosurgeons in that day and they told me they spent over 4 hours piecing things back together afte I was sedated and opened up .

Amazingly I can now make a sort of fist and hold a fork or some tools in my left hand again, the P.T. was miserable and lengthy, as mentioned before : the P.T. never really ends, if you don't work at it you'll become inflexible .

Just a moment ago my sister in law told me she's getting a shoulder replaced, it's been painful for years now, a Doctor told her it was too swelled up to use as her vaccination point, drained 25 containers (who know what size) of fluid out of it, sharply reducing her pain level and then got approval from Medicare to replace it, November 11th I think .

Local farmers convinced the GaDOT to rebuild the bridge so that is now starting. Must be some of that Build Back Better money:).
