Military dependent.
Got a question for you military folks. We are looking to get an RV sometime in the near future. One the youtubers we watch is a Navy vet who is retired and they stay on military TV sites. I was doing some research on these sites and they allow for military dependents to use them as well.
My father in law is a retired Navy vet. When I went on the site they mentioned dependents and made a distinction for minor dependent. So, would my Ms Mash (his daughter) be a dependant? https://www.military.com/spouse/military-benefits/who-can-use-military-campgrounds.html Thanks

A lot of DoD MWR (Moral, Welfare, and Recreation) facilities are closed now due to the Delta lockdown-smackdown, or restricted to active duty personnel only.

Which has nothing to do with the question asked.

It would have if you had DoD MWR privileges, like I do... did... before the latest lockdown-smackdown, anyway.

Them being closed has zero to do with how the DoD defines a dependant for the camp sites.

to address the topic at hand - I really dont think so.
When I was in, a .mil dependent was a married spouse or child of an active duty (or reservist) military member. My understanding is that if you take care of over 50% of the care of another adult (ie: they are infirm or unable to care for themselves) you could get them classified as a dependent, (and then you get more money for having dependents...) but there was a submitttal-approval process for people that werent your spouse or child. Lastly - every military dependent, that I knew, over the age of 16(?), had a military ID of some flavor. (Because the 18-21y/o daughters were always getting into the enlisted club looking for dates...or something...and they needed a .mil ID to get in...) I would expect that if Ms. Mash married you, then she is either your dependent or no one's dependent, and not eligible. https://www.militaryonesource.mil/military-life-cycle/new-to-the-military/getting-connected/cac-and-military-ids-for-dependents-retirees-and-others/ That article isnt good (but that site is generally pretty good...), it doesn't talk about at what age children 'age out' (other searching looks like age 21 or 26 if enrolled in school full time. -John

Once she is no longer in school or under his roof she is no longer a dependent. That said, she might qualify under that program. You will never know until you try.

Does the person have a military dependent ID card which is valid/current ? It’s a yes or no analysis? If no, then you’re not getting those privileges and benies. Pretty simple

Dependents fall into a few categories. Wife is lifetime but the dependent’s card gets renewed every so many years. Kids may go up to age 26 from memory. Just invest your time and investigate the DEERS policy
