any ammo reloaders
I have .22 magnum rat shot. I'd like to convert to bullets. can I dump the shot and powder, and reload with long rifle power, and bullet?

It seems like you would not be able to crimp it tightly enough. I know nothing though.

tiny $ situation. Just buy some rounds and still have the shot rounds for future fun

I wasn't aware there were any reloadable rim fire cartriges, I'm about to learn a new thing .
Many decades ago I used a Lee Loader , it was *very* basic but did the job push fine . When I used a plastic hammer to insert new primers everyone else scattered . The case sizing on my 30.06 rounds became a problem, in the end it was cheaper to buy the then plentiful and dirt cheap non corrosive military ammunition . Much military surplus ammunition uses corrosie (? berdan? I forget) primers . I'd think you could buy good quality reloading presses in a pawn shop ? .

I’m with Nate. There might be dies available for reloading rinmfire, but I’ve never heard of it. Proper reloading procedures are perfectly safe, but in the case of rimfire you are, in effect, dealing with a primed case while unloading it. Rounds are designed to be unloade by firing.
Unless there is a process I’m not familiar with, which is very possible, I think the rimfire is best left alone. |

Casual Shooting
As you're shooting rats and I ass-U-me other varmints, maybe it's time to buy an old lever action 30.30, Marlins are very good and I've seen more than a few old ranch/farm rifles that look scruffy but still shoot just fine....

https://www.dillonprecision.com/berrys-kinetic-bullet-puller_8_8_23998.html I have used one a few times, on center fire rifle and pistol rounds. The problem with rimfire is the puller grabs the case at the base, which in rimfire is where the primer is. I do not think that would end well. |
