Do you reset your trip computer
I am car hunting because the C250 got totaled. I ran across this Benz at one of the dealers and when I got in and started scrolling through the various menus I saw this.
![]() I have never seen anything like this before I was both appalled and fascinated. The car only has 19,900ish miles on it. I rest mine every time I get fuel. It's just habit. I had an over whelming urge to rest it but I didn't. It is kind of cool that I know how many hours the car has been driven to get the miles accrued. Who ever owned the car also kept the GPS map fixed to where north is always facing up. That I had to change because when I was driving south Fort Worth was on my right but GPS said it was on the left..who does that?

We have 2 trips stored in our jeep. One I use for gas and the other I haven't touched so its probably since new. I also keep gps on north top, I cant stand the spinning with no bearing to the larger picture.

Newer BMW's have for sets of data:
Since New Since Refueling Trip (resets after the car's been off eight hours). Individual (reset by user) Older BMW's had two: Trip, and On Board. I record and reset the On Board values when I refuel. I also record my fuel purchases. From that data, I can calculate the errors of the displayed MPG. You can't trust gas gauge accuracy. I've adjusted the displayed MPG's Correction Factor. Accuracy for both of my BMW's are now within 0.5%. Using the trip odometer (reset at refueling), On Board MPG, and the Correction Factor, I can run my tanks down to less than one gallon without worrying about running out of gas. My estimates of how much fuel I'll need is usually within 0.1 gallons of what I actually need. I have to make an effort to burn a tank of gas out of my 535i is less than 30 days. So, I like to run the tank to almost empty to get rid of most of the old gas. Last edited by Autoputzer; 07-31-2022 at 01:02 PM. |
