Reading down in the story, how about the guy who caught that football that was thrown into the stands in Tampa? That guy won some kind of lottery say what? I can only imagine that the funds transfer almost immediately, probably need a line of credit or a bond with the auctioneer to even play those big ones.

It's a hobby. Sports memorabilia collectors are just like any other collector whether it be coins, stamps, antiques, etc. There are thriving markets for all of this stuff.

I agree that those who worship may at times do odd things with their money. You can find plenty of proof by browsing the Tech Help and Diesel Discussion forums here on PP....

"The ball is worth a lot less now," sports memorabilia expert David Kohler told CBS MoneyWatch, adding that once Brady throws another touchdown, the ball's value will be "a fraction of what it was worth."

If Brady plays another season and doesn't throw another touchdown pass the value of the ball will probably double ;)
