Cool Great day at Lake Michigan

My wife and 13 year old son have been camping on the beach in Ludington, MI for the past 3 weeks, so Thursday morning I decided to take the day off and surprise them with a visit. After starting the 190 mile drive, I realized that I had never driven the 560 more than 40 miles from home since we got her in December. Speed limit 70 most of the way, cruise control set at 75, pedaled up to 80-85 a good stretch of the way. Blue skies, 77 deg F, wispy clouds, light traffic. Windows down, sunroof open, effortless sailing. Arived to squeals of delight, felt loved. Two hour walk on the beach, half-hour of playing in the waves, shower, and a nice dinner at a quiet little beach place. Sweet farewells, cruised back in the cool evening air, sunset from God. Frau Blue Car seemed leggy and like she appreciated the chance to get out and stretch. She said thanks by running 380 mile at75-85 mph smoothly at 19.0 mpg. It's been a project, but the spirited lady has some manners. What a day!!

That is just a great drive, especially the last 50-100 miles or so. I'll be in Ludington a week from this Sunday, probably leave first boat out that Monday over to Manitowoc on my K75S.

Don't know if I'll make any of the big lakes but I'll be heading to Northern Wisconsin Sunday morning. Have a little fishing planned, plus a visit to the property and maybe a days work installing a gate.

I hope a couple weeks away from work, in hopefully cooler temps, will cure what ails me - the "I really need a break blahs". Wish I had more time because I'd love to drive the 560, just so I could arrive refreshed .

Sounds like you had a great visit Earl. Glad Frau Bluecar treated you so well.

Dan,
You're right about that last stretch--tall pines on both sides as you cruise, beautiful!!

Mike,
It will likely be cooler, but I've heard stories about Northern Wisconsin mosquitoes being mistaken for pterodactyls!! Enjoy.
