Does anyone here care about anybody?

What I mean is, have you made friends with some of the personalities on the ‘shop?

Well there are some of you I would miss if you died. Seriously.

yes sure. I have a few that I pm from time to time. I have met up with folks from timt to time for a beer or coffee. I have bought cars from and sold cars to members. I have
a couple who have sort of fallen off the board and I wonder if they are deceased.

I live in a somewhat isolated area so have not met anyone in person. I check in here most every day and buy/sell to members. Hope it lasts for a while.

Not me, Ima bot

But you are correct, it would be serious if I died

To the best of my knowledge I have never met anyone bricks and mortar that I have chatted with here.

Due to the nature of my work I cannot meet people outside of my industry. If someone mentions a story line and eventually that gets used in a project I am on the hook for royalties.

And when you steal as much material as I do any casual conversation can lead to a lawsuit.

So no, while I enjoy talking to people here I can't meet anyone in person.

I’ve also met three people from here but it was several years ago when I still had my 300E and was buying a few parts.

I still run into a couple folks at radwood and am connected on social media. The best opportunities were when one of our members hosted an annual bbq in PA -- struggling to think who is still on here. I remember meeting Martureo but most others are long gone from this site.

Yes Chad hosted us - ended up being quite a production on the later years. That was when this site was at its prime.

What's up Kuan!

There have been times I felt like this place was a massive waste of time, and it can be if you post too often (raises hand) but I do feel like it has genuine value. I miss some of the guys I met here who no longer come around, some of them might be deceased.

Carlton Hughes was a real character, I think he was getting on in years 10 years ago. I was sorry to see Botnst depart. I PMed him a few months later through Benzworld suggesting that I thought we could probably get his ban lifted if he was interested. He said something like "thanks all the same, but I've broken my addiction to the place." He said that he hadn't even come around to read what the scuttlebutt, the fallout from it was. I thought his thread title was a stupid joke, but I didn't think it was highly racist, more of a national thing.

Brian Carlton contacted me about five or six years ago when he was going to be working at SFO We went out and had dinner. Great guy. Years ago I had a meet up with the JimB and dee8go in SF. Jim drove us around in his 560S coupe, scared the holy hell out of us zooming down narrow streets. Also, Jim and I did a meet up with BenzLGB in Sacramento of all places. LGB And I had been feuding, we sort of buried the hatchet.

I also met up with Alec300SD who at one time had two very well-maintained and rebuilt 116 300SD specimens. The better one was totaled while parked on the street by some hit-and-run ass hole. He later told me that in the interest of marital bliss his MB hobby was slated for retirement. Pretty sure he has sold the other one by now. Or disposed of it anyway.

I miss some of the guys who used to come around, like H2O/Zeitgeist/Auspumpen, MedMech, KerryEdwards, John Doe and others whose names I can't recall. Sometimes on regurgitated years' old threads, I'll see names that remind me of who used to be here.

I stopped in and met MedMan when I was in his area one time.

You reminded me of quite a few cmac that I remember. Brian Carlton had a gift for putting words together.
