In the early days, 2000 to about 2008 or so, we had some wonderful get togethers with as many as a few dozen people gathering for dinner in the Dallas area. I also met up with a group when in the LA area to include a fellow who was a border patrol Captain near San Diego. Who stopped for coffee with me a few times when rolling through Texas.
In those early years I had people stop by the parking garage at my office very early in the morning or after hours so we could charge their air conditioner or other things that I was very happy to help people with. We also had a big tech session in Mt. Vernon Texas in about 2007 that was wonderful. Not long after that, the forum began to get so caustic with baiting and insulting that I don’t remember visiting in person with anyone from here since. I made acquaintance with some wonderful people through this forum as well as a few that I’m happy that I never had to be in the same room with.

560SEC. Of course, I knew I had the model designation wrong. That was a fine car and OMG it was fast.

No surprise. Your level of expertise in the area of deciet and prodding for the sake of a laugh is consistent with your online slime.

Almost forgot the first forum member I had a meetup with was Auspumpen. He was going by H2O at the time. Great guy, had a fantastic shop. I saw him again about five years ago, I wanted to ask his advice on my SDL. His wife had been hit in one of their cars, no injury, it had an OM606, he remembers the insurance agent being puzzled about him wanting the car back because he wanted the engine. He was doing some whizbang modifications for extra power. The guy knows his stuff.

I think there's a limit to it, I never particularly cared for the Don Rickles character, he took it too far. Myself, I don't think PC is that far out of line. Your mileage may vary.

Appreciate the thought cmac. The fact remains that he went through a period when he had a long thread with instructions about how to dig and irritate. He had no intention of correcting anything or helping anyone. He was even PMing others telling them how to join in. His efforts have shown massive amounts of not only disrespect, but a strong desire to cause others to have a bad day. It takes a major piece of excrement to have such a desire to make life so unpleasant for others.
He is nothing but a big pile of horse $#it.

Yes, you did a wonderful job of burying the evidence when you removed the thread. That’s how you slime balls operate. Practicing the indecent art of covering your tracks is part of your MO.

Larry, it sounds like you are part of the problem you describe. You act like those you describe.

I've been studying Buddhism and it's variant Zen for a while, and I'm beginning to think they are the ultimate guide to mental health. Like a lot of people I've been lost in space for quite a while. I look back at some of the dumb and rude things I've done with people and shake my head. They all say it's important to have no regret, to forgive yourself for being a dumbass. That's a lot of forgiving in my case. I've been ruminating for several years on a document, said to be the oldest known Zen document from China. I've read it referred to as a Zen poem, but it doesn't seem like a poem. Anyway, I like it, it's interesting, good food for thought. Was written in China about 1600 years ago. One line has stuck with me lately: "When the mind exists undisturbed in the Way, nothing in the world can offend, and when a thing can no longer offend, it ceases to exist in the old way." Some of it is hard to wrap your head around. Part of the value of that stuff supposedly comes from pondering it, ideally it quiets your mind from useless crap. https://terebess.hu/english/hsin.html#3
