A friend of mine wants to buy a car in the US and drive it home to Canada. He's taken care of the import and registration matters. About the only thing not covered is insuring the car while he's in the US. Could be as much as San Francisco to border or Seattle to border depending on what shipping charges turn out to be.

ICBC won't insure a car that's not yet registered and CA insurance companies want a valid driver license number.

He's checking with collector car insurers.

Any other ideas?
