Got a new Printer/Scanner/Copier in one! Scanned pictures inside
Well I finally got a new printer, which turned out to be a copier/scanner in one. It was a great deal, only 190 plus a 30 rebate! It is a lexmark X83... very easy to use! (And finally another CD burner; I have a laptop, so I had to buy an external unit, much more $$!).
(Oh, and for the record, I was disgusted with the service I received at Best Buy... I'm NEVER going to that sh**-hole again -excuse the language, but that's how I feel about that store!) I don't really draw, but I drew a few lil pix awhile back... thought I'd post them for fun!! This is my 95 C280's center console/dash: http://www.a-p-group.com/cklasse/ConsoleArt.Drawing.JPG This drawing actually turned out really well. I suprised myself, consider I "never had" any artistic ability! This is of my friend Lulu's 99 C230k's center console (I spent more time on this one): http://www.a-p-group.com/cklasse/Con...Drwng.C230.JPG I'll be scanning (thus posting ;) ) more random items for kicks too. |
more!

Where'd you get it David. I am considering picking a scanner up and may be interested in taking a look at one that copies and prints too. Does it do color prints?

Jim,
The cost for the unit was $189. It is a Copier/Scanner/Printer. It can make color copies as well. It can do 1200 x 2400 dpi. Everything I have printed or copied has come out beautifully; I think it's the best "copy" copy reproduced by a copy machine. It is also incredibly easy to use! It shows a visual diagram of the remaining ink too. A lot of neat/handy features. However, it doesn't use the normal parallel port. It is wired via the USB port. I, regretfully, decided to go shopping at BestBuy, thinking I'd get a good deal (I don't know if I did or not - compared to other retailers). I did have to purchase a USB cord (6 ft.) for $30 in addition to the printer cost. The salesman told me that I needed ink cartridges also, because the ones that come with it are only "samples." I think that guy was talking out of his @ss because I've printed many many pages and I still have FULL ink. I also passed on the 3 yr warranty for a gazillion dollars. I was also going to buy a new cell phone, but the store reps were so rude and not helpful... so I walked away! And then, on my way out, I was in line for 20 minutes (comp trouble?)... getting really irritated. And then I get up to the register and they run my credit card... only to find out their machines aren't working. Then the manager had to come over and give me a HUGE ordeal because my mom's name was on the card, and mine wasn't. Needless to say, I handled it "professionally," but in an authoritative & stern manner; thus leaving the store with what I rightfully wanted! (I bought a CDBurner also). In any event, I finally got out of that mad-house.... and I can assure you, I'll never go back! And when you buy the printer, you get a $30 mail in rebate for credit @ BestBuy (looks like I *might* be going back...) Sounds cool!
I have a Lexmark X73 (I assume one step down from yours), but for some reason it doesn't want to install properly on my system. I had a scanner installed before I installed the printer, and when I tried, only the printer part installed. Didn't recognize the scanner part of the X73 to exist at all. So, I un-installed the X73 along with my other scanner. On re-installing the X73, only the scanner part would install. Couldn't get the printer part to install at all. This is with never having had a working printer installed before (and all the software being gone for both of 'em). And, of course, the software for my other scanner disappeared...so now I don't have either. :( Really sucks 'cause I have some good pics of my "new" 300D...and both me and my girlfriend now have to use an ancient 486 with Windows 3.1 and a dot matrix printer to type up schoolwork. :( I need to see if Lexmark has any updated drivers for this thing...if I could get it to work at 100%, that'd be really  and then I wouldn't have the other scanner sitting on my desk (I'd still keep it, though)...we'll see, eh? |
The Lexmark website has updates (/drivers). I found this one for an X73 (for Win98):

David, thanks! I'll give it a try in a couple weeks (I'm working on moving, and the X73's currently at the new house while the "working" parts of my computer are still at the old house)...actually, I've got another computer almost ready to go that I can hopefully install it onto instead. :)
