Gold Diggers, first date, etc.
Hey guys!
I ran into this by accident this morning at msn.com check it out and tell me what you think: http://www.askmen.com/dating/doclove_100/138_relationship_expert.html So do you guys drive your Mercedes on a first date? Or "drive down" so to speak. Also this site talks about "the system" anybody here heard or read it before? |

I've found out my best system IS my car. Women absolutely LOVE it.

If I was truly worried about a girl's "gold-digging" tendencies, I'd show in the the 1987 Volvo 744 Turbo with a small dent in the front fender, a left rear door whose power lock doesn't work, and a cracked dash housing the original crappy Volvo stereo system. If the girl gets snobby about that, it's time to hit the highway (figuratively speaking). The car looks nice from the left side and front and rear; outside.
In regards to askmen.com, that site is completely bunk, in my opinion. I feel like I have some "player" tendencies, but the stuff they advocate is great for picking up one-nighters, not quality lasting relationships. BTW, my current female "interest" likes the Volvo for its comfy heated seats. -Sam |

Thanks for all the replies.
I read the advertisement on "the system" and was curious about it. As for me, i have two cars, both are MBs so i dont really have a choice, unless i am going to borrow someones car for the night. I think for one night stands, club/bar scences its good for a nice ride. But if you looking for a long term relationship, you should play it "low key" at first. It seems to make scence. I am 21 yrs old and i guess i dont have much of a "system" for long term relationships. I have had girls walk up to me and ask if its my car, blah blah. Sounds like they were more interested in my car than me, HAHA. |

I actually bought a "car" so I could drive down to Bakersfield and meet my current girlfriend. It was an '84 diesel Ford van that I just sold to get the 123 I've got now. She liked the van; she likes the Benz even more...to the point where she wants one herself.
The truely odd thing was that my ex-girlfriend actually liked the old IH Scout I had before I got the van... One-nighter? What's that?

I showed up in a 500 bucks 1988 Suzuki Forsa(Swift) Turbo, with NO muffler, rusted body panel when I first met my GF(needless to say, her friends were disgusted and laughed at me)..... needless to say, she has both of her eyes wide open when I showed up in my 400SE and picked her up for her high school graduation party...
I always like how a beater can pin-point gold-digging chix.... And 500 bucks beater is just a right car for the job... Andy Kuo

I used to date this gal who would call me on a saturday or sunday and beg me to take her for a drive. Top down, beautiful sunny day, stopping at garage sales, DQ's. Anyway, picked her up one rainy, crummy night in my (then) '89 4x4 Toyota ( weather to nasty for the Benz ). Walking out the door she spots my truck and has a holy s**t fit. That was all I could take........... see ya later Lisa.
She still calls, I don't answer. sbr '79 450SL 77,000 miles |

As a young female (26 going on 27) I feel I must respond to this, so brace yourselves
If a man showed up on the first date with a beater, I would still complete the date, that way I can see if this beater is all he owns, or does he have anything esle going on. If all he has is a beater then he can beat it!!! If he has other things going on then we can talk. WHY??? 4 Reasons: 1). I make six figures 2). I own my own house 3). I currently own 2 Mercedes (had 3 but sold one) 4). Parents didn't pay for anything not even college!!! (Been on my own (by choice) since 17) I owned my first Mercedes at 21. So when I go out on dates and the men show up with a beater or want to play low key, I toss them like keys on a table when I come home from work. No need to look for gold, when you already have Platinum 90 percent of my females friends are the same way (already established). It is very funny when we meet guys, because when we don't give them no play, they call us gold diggers and all types of names. We just laugh. Some men are gold-diggers also. I get men trying to get at me all day. I am attractive but pushing a 500 doesn't hurt also |

I always thought playing games is just that...playing games!
So even the "dressing-down" tactic is just another flavor of "game-playing"...even if it's a fact-finding mission. I will admit to not having much dating success in my bachelor days, and I fell into the trap of believing that a guy had to have a sharp car in order to get a woman's attention. Problem is, I owned my share of junkers as a struggling college student, and later, as a money-challenged white collar flunkie. Eventually things got better (bought my first new car at age 30), but by the time I met my future wife, she didn't care squat about what car I owned! We've acquired our MBs well into our marriage, so it's a moot point anyway. My wife is still not a car afficiando, but she does love her SL!

I believe that men and women want to find a mate that is (at least) on the same level as themselves. I usually ask them to just bring a copy of their credit report to the first meeting:p In all honesty, good luck in finding "Mr. Right", if that's what you want. |
