Back in an MB again

New to me 2021 C300. I must say the modern tech is quite appealing. It’s like driving a starship. The "gear shift" lever is a stalk on the steering column. The center console is for controlling the infotainment and lord knows what else. There are paddle shifters which are overkill IMO.

But it drives nice. This particular one has an AMG package which includes an AMG tuned suspension… and floor mats. 😄

Snazzy, but not quite zippy snappy as my BMW 328i xdrive.

I had a '13 or '14 (dont recall at the moment). It got totaled when Ms Mash got rear ended by a F150 going about 50mph. The car was nice to drive. We took it on several road trips and it drove very well. Kind of miss it but the car did its job. When she was rear ended, the belt cinched up, head rest popped as designed.

The main concerns I had were 1. C pillars creased and 2. The rear window popped out and landed on the ground by the driver door. I remember my dad always saying that you could nail a MB front or rear and the doors would open/close just like the day it drove off the assembly line. My experience is that those days are gone.

Welcome back Kuan.

I think the benz still is the safest.

And, it might be blue! What is the story on the floor star?

engatwork 08-10-2025 08:23 AM

Regarding floor star I'm not sure if that is standard or an option but it is a light installed under the bottom of the door that project the emblem on the ground. IIRC the last C300 I had in shop had it too.

The logo is an option that comes with an option package. I’ve attached a photo.

The AMG suspension lowers the car a tiny bit. I realized when I saw it side by side with another C300. I didn’t check to see if it was the wheels or tires though, maybe I was hallucinating.

Also, look at those bastards destroying MB tradition. "Ommision of warning triangle."

Get a 'tringle' on ebay and bolt it on top the trunk lid - that will show 'em!

I love the styling. Front and rear are simple traditional mercedes design. l The handling is excellent too.

The car did its job and did it well. She got his so hard that the front wheel got ripped off and jammed into the trunk of the C250. Ms Mash walked away with minor bruising and thats all. Thats all one can ask for.

Also these newer cars come with runflats and no spare tire.

Remember......the "C" stands for; "cheap." According to Tyler's buddy; Car Wizard.

There's no way around it either. Try as you might.....congrats....?

No congratulations required for just buying something. I buy things everyday. Congratulate me big time at my funeral.

Speaking of which....run flats. My E class is supposed to have run flats, but the dealer I bought it from put regular tires on it. It does not have room in the trunk for a spare, not even a doughnut. I bought a doughnut tire and I have it in the trunk at all times because thats how I was raised.

When it comes time for new tires, I am nit sure if I will put run flats on or not. I have been told they weigh more, wear faster and are more expensive. Even if I had run flats on it, I think I would still have the doughnut in it because ...well thats how I was raised. It would be nice to have more trunk room but I dont think I can bring myself to ditch the doughnut.

Decisions...decisions.
