New York, Canada advice needed
I'm driving from Boston to Detroit in the next couple of weeks and wondered if somebody could help me with te following:
1. In the light of 9/11, what are the border crossings like into and out of Canada (if I take I 90 to Canadian at Niagara border, and then 401 in Ontario to Windsor)? 2. If I stay stateside, I'm debating whether I should take New York State Throughway or I-80 across PA. Is the NY speed limit still 55 and how tough are the troopers...or is PA the better choice? Any insights/observations much appreciated. |

KPG,
I used to live in Upstate NY and Springfield MA and I can say that the I-90 is heavily patrolled. The speed limit is 65 and if they catch you anywhere near 74 they will pull you over. NY Troopers and not to mention Mass Troopers are very tough. If you have a V1 you'll be ok just keep your eyes open. Mass troopers are predictable but NY Troopers set several traps especially in Syracuse and Albany. By the way this has to be the most boring drive I've ever done. I used to always have to stop and take naps just to keep my eyes open! The only advantage of taking this route is you probably won't deal with any traffic through Mass and NY. Hope this helps.
