Question What to buy for around $15,000??

Hello all:
I am thinking of selling my two current older models and purchasing a newer model. I prefer the more "nimble" Benzes (300-E size) to the larger sedans. Any suggestions? What do you think I could get for my 16 valve? It is in good to very good conditionand was serviced for many years at RC-Imports in Rockville MD. Thank you for any ideas!!

Well, you could probably get a C280.

You might be able to get a very high mileage 96/97 E320.

You could easily afford the most perfect example of a low mileage 94-95 E420 or E320.

If it was my money, I'd get the 94-95 E420. The power is unbelievable.

I agree

400E - 92-93
E420 - 94-95
E320 - 94-95

There was a 16V in the local paper the other day for 4k. I didn't check it out though. 15k? Well, if you sell your 16V for 4k, that would get you into a VERY nice C36 AMG.

for $15k I'd definitely find a W124. It is the perfect size car in my opinion.

The E420/400E is a beast. However I'd be very happy to have the E320 or even the E300D's or 300D Turbo's. Any W124 is a lot of car for $15K!

Good luck,

If tossability is of paramount importance, my vote is for a C280 Sport. It's almost as fast as a 4.2 liter 124 car in a straight line, and I assume the handling feel would be better due to the lighter body.

Thanks everyone for your advice!!
After checking all the models out online, I think I'm leaning towards the 1995 E-320 over the other choices. Though I'd like the power of the E-420, six cylinders are all I need, and I figure the E-320 gets better gas mileage and insurance would be cheaper. I'll keep looking over the next month or so... I've got time on my side... and let you all know how it turns out. Thanks again!!
Twelve $1000 Benzes.... hmmmmm...

I can't comment on whether the insurance is cheaper or not, but the gas mileage on the 400E / E420's is only 1 mpg less that than E320's.

For $15,000, you could buy a decent Rolls Royce...

Buy on eBay like I did! I got my '94 E320 with 92,000 miles for $12,500 (10,800 bid, 800 shipping, 900 tax at the DMV)

Check out the pics of my baby

Great Car W124AMG! Looks very nice.

Here's mine:

Anyways, sorry to get the thread side-tracked!

Well I'd say, like you decided, a 94/5 E320 or maybe a 96-97 C280.

Good luck on your search!
