Panasonic ////SHOCKWAVE Walkman?

Ok, this might be a bit off topic but need some advice. Not sure how many of you still use portable radios (aka.."walkman") but I would like to buy a Panasonic Shockwave and want to know if anyone has had any experience with them.

This picture shows the first model that came out and I am interested in the one with tape and radio

This picture shows the 2nd model made

This is the 3rd model

Is anyone familiar with any of these models? A freind told me the first model is the best one because it gets the best reception out of the rest. Why is that? Just want to get a opinion before I venture out and get one cause they are a bit pricey.

Thanks everyone!

Sorry..haven't used a Walkman in 15 years!

Nowadays, with internet radio, MP3s, CD-ROM, DVDs, XM satellite, CD-changers, home theater media, keyboard studio, (pant, pant), I feel that we are already too "plugged-in" as it is.

So instead of inserting a set of headphones into my ears when I venture out, I instead, listen to the sounds of the world around us...

I am 19 and I want to hear music when I jog and not buses and cars.

At least I have a little repose from the metropolitan areas where I live.

When I go walking along the park trails, I'm in perfect harmony with the nature around me (ahhhh), the sound of Africanized killer bees, the slithering water moccasins, the pitter patter of little scorpion feet, the loving "bites" of a colony of fire ants, garden spiders the size of Volkswagens, and a coyote or two sizing me up for lunch...

Texas...gotta love it!
