College dorm horror stories

OK.. I am moving out tomorrow into my dorm. But.. I started thinking about who my room mate is going to be. What if he is some weird psycho.. a cult follower... a "gun freak" or something like that. I just hope I end up with someone relatively normal or like me(well.. if u call that normal ) I just want to hear if anyone had a horror story or something positive to share about their college experience.

Ok I've got one...

I'm on my 3rd (and I hope to god, LAST) year at a junior college, so I didn't live in the dorms. But back in 99 when I was a senior, I attended a boarding school in Arizona (Tucson... ugh!).

When I got there, my room-mate was a really nice guy from the South... but he withdrew from the school 4 days after it started... because of some issue regarding a drug test or some sort... it's bulI**** anyway. Well I had my own room at that point... COOL, I thought.

Well the next day in afternoon homeroom, the Headmaster introduced a new student. He was the only black kid at the school, and he was 'ghetto' looking at that. I didn't think much of it. About 20 minutes later, I'm in my room, and I see these 2 Louis Vuitton suit-cases in my front room... I was thinking.. what in the hell is going on?? I thought my parents had come to visit or something. Well a short while later, the black kid, Ray, walks into my room... I thought he was lost, why else would he be in my room? After about 30 seconds of being totally naive to the situation, I realized that this was my room-mate.

I come from a town in OC, California. Newport Beach has probably 3 black people. I never knew anyone black before this time. I was not raised to be racist, but the general feeling I had on black people was sheltered. I don't recall exactly how I felt when he became my room-mate, but I immediately called all my friends, and told them that of COURSE I got "unlucky" and am rooming with the only black kid in the school. ((How stupid!))

As the days went by... I realized that this Ray kid came from Beverly Hills, was some-what of a "wannabe" -he was like 14... playing the act of a hard-core. But he was a very nice guy.

We were room-mates for about 3 months... and I learned a lot! Ray was a great room-mate, and I'm glad he was my room-mate. We weren't best friends, but were really the "perfect" room-mates. We got along very well... could have conversations, etc, etc.. it worked out really well.

Anyway, this was actually not a "horror" story, but more of a learning experience, which is a good thing.

Good luck. Where are you going to school>?

I moved into my university 3 weeks ago.

While I'm not actually "on residence" I have a basement apartment where I still share a living room, washroom and kitchen with 3 other people.

They just sit in their rooms and study all day (they are upper year com sci students).

Sorry, no horror story here, just thought id share the experience.

WARNING: May not be fit for those w/o strong stomachs

Oh man...

I just have to chip in here...

Fall quarter of freshman year in 2000. In October, my roommate returns from a Halloween party at 2:15 in the morning, with a friend. He tells his roommate "I'm gonna show you what rap is all about" and turns on Ludacris or some other hella obscene rap for 5 minutes. Just as I'm about to sit up in bed (I was asleep) and tell him to turn his stuff off, he departs.

15 minutes later, he came back with a girl, and, you guessed it, they "did the nasty" for a couple of hours, with me five feet away in another bed. I wish I had been able to go back to sleep. I wasn't.

The next night, at 5:00 am, the girl came back to the room, and demanded to hear that my roommate loved her. When his answer wasn't what she wanted, she slapped him three times, went into the men's room on the floor, and started crying.

Probably one of the worst things that happened that year in the dorms. Some others.

-The night when a friend of a friend drank half a fifth of vodka, and made his way to the floor's lounge. 15 minutes later, I hear female yelling "That guy from Bellevue is throwing up on the couch!"

-I once went out to dinner with a girl, and woke up in bed with her the next morning. Fun stuff, except the relationship went sour and she lived a few doors down from me on the same floor. Floor-cest sucks.

-Another friend drank 22 beers at a party (or so he claimed) then woke up the next morning in the study room on the 6th floor of a different dorm he lived in. That's kind of scary.

That was freshman year. Sophomore year (my last in the dorms) was quite benign.

-Sam

Whew! The wonder years of 1979 - 1981!!!

Went to a couple of different universities...one dorm in particular was "special" to say the least.

Wish I documented all of the events that occurred when I lived there...made National Lampoon's "Animal House" seem like "Barney's Playhouse"!

I did have a gay roomate for one semester though...bad aspect: he secretly wanted to engage in "activities" with me. good aspect: he had a TON of female friends, so it was a smorgasbord of dates for me that semester!!

i've been pretty damn lucky at UNF, but my old room mates did like to smoke weed in my dorm which i wasn't too particular about. My current(new roommate) is pretty cool. It's not that bad, also, dont become best friends with your room mate. YOu dont want to hang out with the person you see all day at night and while your out as well. It will make problems much worse i think.

I love residence!

I am a residence advisor in a brand new dorm!

I competed for this job due to the free rent/cable/phone/internet

I am in heaven!!!

Being young, surrounded by attractive girls is just a beautiful thing that I hope never ends.

I also get a million shout outs when I'm in the halls at school.

Loving it!!!!

I shared a townhouse with 3 others for two years in college, and one of them ALWAYS came home EVERY Thursday night drunk. I mean plastered! We are talking puke all over. (nice.)

He lived in the basement, and so what we would do is slightly loosen the light bulb at the top of the stairs just enough so that it would not come on and (we were all architecture students) lined the stairs with drafting tubes.

He always fell for it. (no pun intended )
ALWAYS! We did this bi-weekly for the entire year and he never caught on...now that's DRUNK!

Others in our house did some other pretty gross stuff, but too gross to mention here.
