I just bought a 79 300SD. It looks like they have scabbed on some US bumpers onto a european model and left the european ones there. Does anyone just pull the US bumpers off and drive around with the European ones only? It would look a lot better.

I sure like the looks of the bumpers on my Euro 500 Se better than the ones on my 81 Sd ,but the SD bumpers definatly would protect the expensive grill and head light units better in a small parking bump..........

I lived in Switzerland from 1977 till the end of 1980. When I look at this 79 300SD, it seems to me that the European versions were exactly like the way this one would look if I were to take off the US bumpers. I was a poor student then, so a Mercedes was way out of my league, but I was lusting after them.
