Good and quick lowfat chicken recipe

This beats the pants out of El Pollo Loco. It's ALMOST FAT FREE and tastes great. All you need to do is marinade the chicken for about an hour before grilling. Masala is a powdered spice mix you can purchase at an Indian grocer. It should cost you at most $3 for 200 grams. There are many different kinds. Make sure you get the one without msg meant for Tandoori cooking.

Tandoori chicken. Serves 2.

Ingredients:

1 whole chicken cut into parts (about 3 1/2 lbs.)
2 Tablespoons Tandoori Chicken Masala
1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
1 lime
1 cup low fat yogurt.

Remove skin from chicken. Make some slashes in the chicken pieces and place in large bowl. Sprinkle evenly with Tandoori spice and salt. Squeeze the juice out of the lime over the chicken. Add the yogurt and allow to marinate for about at least a half hour. An hour would be better. Grill until internal temperature reads 170 degrees F.

The yogurt protects the meat from getting burnt and imparts a great flavor when grilled. This is great served up with a simple green salad tossed with a little extra virgin olive oil and vinegar.

I've been eating tandoori marsala chicken for about 20 years and I'm not Indian. I discovered it once I went to UK twenty years ago. Tandoori Marsala is about 100x better than plain Masala. But, be sure you dissolve any of these seasonings into some lemon juice or oil because it might make the chicken a little too salty if too much is applied. Particularly goes well on chicken drumsticks and breasts. It also goes very well w/ meat.

Kuan:

Sounds great. We had Tandoori chicken pizza at poolside when we stayed at the Orchid on the Big Island 10 years ago, loved the flavor! (Also had a 7 grain pizza with salmon, spinach leaves, goat cheese, and red onions - yum!) Thanks for sharing the recipe!!!

Yeah you're not going to be putting on weight with this stuff I think a whole skinless chicken is between 550-650 calories.

Traditional tandoori masala has no salt royaii... buy a different brand. The spice mix won't dissolve, so don't try to mix it in with any lemon juice. Even if it could dissolve, there's a reason why you apply dry spices dry. I've found this to be the fastest and easiest way for the average joe to make tandoori chicken. You can adjust the amount of spice to your liking the second time around.
