Windows XP and Office 97?
Anyone having problems using SPELLCHECKER for Office 97 products installed on Windows XP home or professional??
It worked fine on NT, now not at all on XP Home Edition. No luck finding anything on the MS site or thru other web forums. |
how did u set it up? ur new OS
upgrade? or clean install i've found that most everyone who has done the upgrade way usually runs into problems after u do that, install all ur programs fresh * save all ur important files before doing so |
Upgrading usually requires you reinstall a few programs depending on what you have installed.
Also, Office 97 wasn't really instended to be used with XP, but that doesn't mean it won't work. Have you installed the office 97 service packs? That may help the problem. If all else fails, you may have to upgrade to at least office 2000. Alon |
This is a brand new Dell which came with XP.
The Office 97 was installed after. I have downloaded a couple files that I have found on some MS forums. So far seems to be working. Thanks. |
FIXED!
OK, did some more snooping on the internet and found that it was not an XP/Office 97 issue at all!
I was trying to install via "Custom" option so that I could just install Word, PowerPoint and Excel. You would think that selecting those would also include the spellchecker...NOPE! Had to install the "Tools" as a separate selection. Goofy, but it works now. Thanks. |
