Question Too Good For Rust?

Yesterday I took my 300cd to a local body shop to get an idea on what they would charge to take care of the rust on the driver’s door and the door jam. After waiting 10 minutes the estimator and I go out to look at Brutus. The first thing I show him is the bubbling paint on the door jam and his first response was “WE DON’T DO RUST HERE"

Is this a California thing? I don’t think so. Aren’t body shops in business to do body work?

Any thoughts and recommendations for the San Diego area?

Thank you in advance.

My only thought is that they are all too aware of the mantra with rust - the more you remove, the more you find. TXBill had a similar issue with Euduardo. Nobody would touch his car either.

My guess would be to keep looking around, or look for bodyshops that specializes in retoring vintage cars. They should be more receptive to rust cleanup.

I would buy a rust free salvage yard door they are not that much ,and I'll bet you have rust inside your door from plugged drains and a worn window seal.there are some products on the market devoloped by the navy that convert rust into a paintable surface that should not re rust. then have any good body shop shoot the paint......
