Lightbulb Dreams; the ultimate puzzles

The other night I had insomnia and couldn't sleep. Funny thing was that I was dreaming it. I've had some pretty wierd dreams but that one takes the cake!! What's the strangest thing you ever dreamed? (that you're willing to tell)

You would think that something you can't seem to attain in reality would be won over in a dream...not so.

I was pretty awkward socially in my adolescent years (translation: NO DATES), so many of my dreams involved dating some unattainable infatuation that I yearned for in real life.

In every case, when I tried to kiss my dream date, they would return the kiss with a slap or a right cross...usually hard enough to wake me from the dream!

I have very vivid and varied dreams. I dream in color and can sometimes "steer" a dream, sort of like directing a movie. Sometimes I see people and things that don't exist anymore, but in the dream they are alive and well as if nothing happened to them. Mostly my dreams are pleasurable but the one that I hate is the one that happens in the transition (slow spiral) between sleep and wake. The one where you're awake, you think, but cannot move!!

Does anyone else ever forget to pee before going to bed only to spend the ENTIRE dream looking for a restroom, using it, and not getting relief, so you continue the quest for yet another restroom? This goes on endlessly until you wake up and actually take care of the problem.

Anyone, anyone?

oookay...just me, huh? Never mind.

G-benz, I can relate!

The thing that always baffles me with dreams is things I don't remember doing or certain details about an event/person seem to show up in dreams in full color complete with detail. I think this proves that we can only manage a small portion of our brain. The rest just sort of manages itself and manifests when it best deems fit.

I always have this one dream where I can jump really high. Me and some people are playing dunkball at the elementary school on those 8ft hoops, but then all of a sudden I show them how it's done. I take a running start, jump, pump, and then pump again with my legs as if I'm jumping off a cushion of air. Then I dunk it! It's a real nice feeling

My dreams are so random and (many times strange), that I can't imagine ever making sense of them in a clinical way Many times, I wake in the morning going "whoa - that was wierd", but the more I try to remember the details, the more the details slip away and blur, till I remember nothing!

Those same dreams I will forget I've had till I have them again, resulting in a potent sense of 'dream deja-vu'. Now how's that for trippy?

I agree that the power of the human brain to create vivid, sometimes completely random situations/environments during sleep is truly remarkable!

Regards,
- Ryan

I often have dreams that I'm trying to run but can't run properly.. it's as if the air is made of treacle, I'm all slow.

Am I trying to get away from something in my life?

I also often dream about pointless things.. like running out of milk, or changing a light bulb.. Usually it feels real and I wake up thinking I have no milk.. then I open the fridge and am momentarily confused when I have plenty !?!!

I wonder why my brain can't come up with something more interesting?

Did you ever try to "redream" a favorite dream? Albeit, unsuccessfully?

Like you dream about being in the pool with Christie Brinkley, then wake up in the middle of the night, and try to concentrate on the same thing as you fall back asleep, only to dream about playing pool with David Brinkley?
