Need some advice on a ticket.
Today on the way home I recived a ticket for doing 88 in a 70 a FHP officer was sitting behinds the trees and nailed me. I recived my last speeding ticket Nov. 16 of 01. So I can take the class but then I would have 3 left for my life. Or I can take the 4 points and possibley lose my liesnce or have it knocked to a hardship liesnce.
any advice I'm greatfull for. PS I'm done speeding for good. |

my advice is, use your head!!! an old saying, god gave use two ends, our succes depends on which one we use. c'mon, we all like to speed, but you are not on a track. consider this a big lesson. speed really can kill. you, others, finances, insurance rates, etc. i'm not an old lady, and i'm not with out sin here, but we all have to exercise restaint and common sense. also NEVER, EVER race in subdivisions, neighborhoods, parking lots. dan you seem like a good guy, i have a soft spot for car people, so don't be angry with me. you did ask for advice. we all need to be careful. peter

Dan,
Sorry to hear about your mishap. Definitely time to slow down.....it only gets more expensive (insurance, fines, etc.) Hopefully, everything will work out.....see if you can get the points/speed/fine reduced by going to court. I suppose it can't hurt to try. If you receive a 'provisional' or 'hardship' license, expect your insurance to skyrocket, or possibly even risk the chance of being cancelled or non-renewed. Work the system and see what you can get reduced before pleading guilty to anything. Steve |

Heh, $35 is all it costs to reinstate a driver's license in Illinois? The secretary of state was selling them for more than that I think!

maybe I need to move up there.
The point sytem is pretty much each violation has a point value attached and an getting points ads up and costs you in insurance and eventually your liesence. You can take a total of 5 classes in Florida to get the points taken away after that your out of luck. |

Dan... as a young man to another young man, I suggest you try... i mean, STOP speeding. However, I don't mean speeding as in anything over 65, but anyting more than 10MPH over the speed limit. It would be a shame if your car gets wrecked or even worse if you get hurt.

This is how it works in IL. You are allowed 2 tickets when you are under 21. I got my first ticket @ 16. 63 in a 40. I went to traffic school, it didn't go on my record, but was on probation for 2 years [another ticket w/in those years, they go on my record]. My second ticket came @ 19, 80 in a 65, it was in a county that doesn't believe in traffic school so that one went on my record. My third and last ticket came right before my 20th birthday, 2 months ago. 83 in a 55, that one was a doosy, but in IN and have yet to see if my insurance will go up or if it will even effect my record. My roommate got his liscense suspended after 2 tickets in 1 year, 11 months and 23days, no joke. To get it reinstated, he called the DMV, they charged $35 to his credit card and he was good to go again. It's kinda scary when you think of how many bad drivers might be out there. Yea, well, our now Gov. George Ryan sold CDL liscenses for I think like $300 or $500 a pop when he was Sec. of State. The new Sec. of State has done a good job cleaning the office and Ryan has been elected out of office. Good ole' Illinois. Good pizza, crooked politics [though this time it was the Republicans, :p ]
