What kind of rap guys you listen to in your Benzes?

Maybe I am dumb, but I love driving through the city with rap music blasting from my crappy stock speakers and having all inner city people around my school looking at my car lol. Rap music just seems relaxing, and makes you feel like a head honcho while driving your Benz...anyhow what are your choices?

I like

Dr. Dre, all his stuff
Ice Cube
St. Lunatics
Ludacris

You guys?

Cap'n Carageous 12-10-2002 07:23 PM

Offspring. Pretty Fly for a White Guy!!:D :D :D

But if he looks twice they're gonna kick his lily ass!!"

If I ever listen to rap it's old school like Run DMC, or the Beastie Boys. Come to think of it, maybe I'll go and pick up some Whodini or Grand Master Flash in the next couple of days.

KID ROCK!!FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

drbrandini 12-10-2002 09:33 PM

I like Nappy Roots, Mos def and Talib Kweli mostly because I like music with a message. :)

BenzOnline 12-10-2002 09:47 PM

I do remember the time when I was blasting Ice Cube - you can do it out of the 126 in traffic........I still had the stock speakers and no 6x9's yet but it was fairly loud!!

Im more of a dance/techno lover.

Piotr 12-10-2002 11:47 PM

Stuck in the 80's. Heavy Metal (nostalgia!! Remember the hair??) like Judas Priest and AC/DC, Damn Yankees, Guns n Roses, etc. But I like only a few things from each, well, hmmm, uhh, LP?? (remeber THOSE???). Plus any electronic rock like Tangerine Dream ( Americans know them mostly from movie sound tracks like Legend , Fire Starter, and Risky Business - who doesn't remember girlfriends getting romantic watching and listening to "Love on a Real Train??") or Jean Michel Jarr (both still pretty popular in Europe, I hear), or Kitaro, or Vangelis.

the new stuff-well Eminem (or is it REALLY M&M??) latest. He reminds of RUN-DMC. Oh, well, I'm OLD...

blackmercedes 12-10-2002 11:51 PM

Kid Rock

Old NWA (Straight outta Compton)

joshhol 12-11-2002 12:23 AM

Nellie -
Especially on the stock tube radio with single center front speaker on the 220S.

mbz380se 12-11-2002 01:02 PM

"Nellyville" -Nelly (choice track is Pimp Juice).

"The Skinny"-Slimm Cutta-Calhoun (quote: All these lonely girls wanna f***....it's okay...it's aight girl, it's okay...)

"Power in Numbers"-Jurassic 5

"Behind the Front"-Black Eyed Peas

"Shorty the Pimp"- Too $hort

"Ready to Die"-Notorious BIG

And the stock speakers with the CD player handle this stuff pretty well in the 380SE.

I am upgrading

MB Quart 4x6's at the rear alla DKD146, Mb Quart 4 inch ala DKD110's at the front. Also I can't wait for my Blaupunkt Santa Fe CD32...45 watts max output over 4 channels...nice.

chaser234 12-11-2002 05:17 PM

Bone thugs mostly, big pun too...but by far the best cruising song (although it is about a cadillac) is Po Pimp by Do or Die.

Piotr 12-12-2002 12:18 AM

Sorry, the best DRIVING song is "Radar Love" by Golden Earring. Just watch those WRX commercials on Speed during breaks in World Rally Championship coverage. Why doeasn't MB do rallies any more? I guess no small engines anymore... :(

KylePavao 12-12-2002 02:55 PM

MB did rally????!!??

When? I want to see pics!

SHYNE 12-13-2002 09:41 PM

I'm not big on rap:

I don't like the fluff "pop-rap" junk (think Nelly, B2K, or Missy etc...)

The only hip hop album I can't recommend is an oldie but a goodie, that being Digable Planets "Blow out Comb" album circa 1994.

This album has their biggest hit "9th wonder"

For my Mercedes-Benz, my system see's a lot of;

Richard Ashcroft (lead singer for the Verve)

Pete Yorn (a must for acoustic fans)

Cold Play (their album, "a rush of blood to the head" is a masterpiece, please buy it! Don't even stop to think about it)

Red Hot Chilli Peppers (old and new stuff)

Dave Mathews Band (obviously, without a doubt)

-Mike McKinney

Snibble 12-14-2002 11:23 PM

"Take it to da house" -- Trick Daddy
"Whats the difference"-- Ice Cube
"Square dance" -- eminem
"Big Payback" -- EPMD

Can't think of the others right now..
but when I go to school early in the morning, I play the Soprano's theme song loudly and occaisonaly I play "Hard knock life" from Austin Powers... the one where Dr. Evil raps:D :p

einberliner 12-15-2002 03:32 AM

Southern rap, but everything in that category from Arrested Development to Outkast to Ludacris.

Actually, Vic Wooten's amazing bass playing will destroy speakers much more quickly than the 60-100Hz "kick" stuff found in rap. In a home stereo I once made two really good 12" woofers with 14mm xmax jump out of their gaps playing "Flight of the Cosmic Hippo" at near concert levels. (Those were the woofers from NHT's flagship of the time, the US$4000 Model 3.3.)

Diesel-Lover 12-15-2002 11:20 AM

Yes sir some LedZep Please:

Classic Rock circa late 60s to 70s. Then some of the pos ish stuff from the 80s is good as well. Try edgarwinter group they only come out at night at full blast, same with wild thing (dont recall the artist) as good as radar love. During mellow moods like Carol Kings Tapestry and the like. What was that one song Oh lord won't your buy me a ...

Want to get that xm sat radio one of these days. Any on the forum sold on it?

Piotr 12-15-2002 11:54 PM

Yes, MB did rallies WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back (60's and 70's). Sorry, don't remember the car, but I watched on Speed Channel their classic rallye series, and I believe they showed a Rally of Great Brittain (I guess that would be Q rally) with the last showing of a mercedes (ca 1973-76??).

Anyone gonna watch Paris-Dakar this year? I belive a diesel VW will be entered!!

Peyton300TD 12-16-2002 12:19 PM

The benz doesn't get rap, but classic rock. I think Zeppelin just sounds right outta a 30 y/o single speaker radio :p The bronco gets bumped though. I like Nappy Roots a lot. The best driving music though is Chemical Brothers. Every speeding ticket of mine has been w/ CB blaring...

The thread starter asked what kind of "Rap Music" do you listen to ? That is a conflict of terms. Rap IS NOT music. Music generally invloves instruments of some sort and if we are lucky, some vocally gifted people.
I have yet to hear "Rap" that has any of this.
To me, it would be a very sad day indeed when I was witness to a Mercedes pumping out "Rap"
Saw a VW 1.8T playing "Rap" the other day. Kid had a toque on, pulled way down on his head, grooving to some unintelligible combination of bass hits and rhymed words (I think it was words)
Laughed my ass off. What passes for music these days is ridiculous.
And what is worse, when people buy this stuff, take a look at who you are giving your money to. These "Rappers" are getting rich off of you.
It makes me sick to think that I may one day pull up beside a "Puff Dad " someone, or a " Trick" something or other, and they might be driving a more expensive car than I am.

You're too "old school":D We have went through this stage in every generation. We even had people a whiles back say that Jazz is the Devil's music. Now we have people against Rap.;)

Saying a rap is not music is like saying expressionism is not art.

ariela86 12-21-2002 06:17 PM

i listen to alot of lil john, ludacris, nelly, nappy roots, and then every once in a while you gotta break out the sublime and stone temple pilots.

its sound great in my benz running through my alpine head unit to my infinity kappa speakers, with the bass being pushed through my two 12 inch jl W6v2s, (soon to be w7), by two jl 1000.1 amps.

Your right up my alley! Have you seen the concert that Jarr di din Moscow for it's 500th anniversary? It was like a museum of electronic instruments being demonstrated! Was a fantastic concert! Kitaro, Vangelis and Tangarine Dream have been on my "top 10" for years now.

Bruce B 12-23-2002 04:35 AM

I hear ya Diesel...

This may not be rap, but, to each his, or her own.... Rock'n'roll for me. 96.1 (96Rock) and 92.9 (Z93) here in Atlanta. Radar Love and Runnin' Down The Dream (Tom Petty). My hand automatically reaches for the volume when either of these tunes start up.

Benzman500 12-23-2002 11:44 AM

With the 500 Juvenile, Lil Wayne, Big Tymers, BG even with the old kenwood subs and the too 100 watt amps the 500 would pound. Ahhh I miss it so so much
now I listen to Project Pat and 36 Mafia a lot Some Nappy Roots, Ying Yang, and of course LIL john and the eastside boyz
The only way you will hear Nelly coming from me is if the girlfriend makes me. And she has
