SF Bay Area rain
My wipers have seen a season's worth of duty. Is it time to build an ark?

The rain's not so bad...
It's the hail that kills me. Yesterday, at about noon, I was out and about in Richmond when I was suddenly deluged with a hailstorm the likes of which I have rarely seen in CA. It was really nasty - one cut my head and I was actually bleeding. I'm sure it wasn't too pleasant for the paint on my car, either, but I've been too afraid to check for damage.
Of course, in true CA style, four minutes after the hailstorm the sun emerges and it's warm. Zach 1992 300CE |

Yer kidding! Hail? How big was it? Check your car for hail damage.

No joke. We don't get hail too often in the Bay Area, and this was some big hail by CA standards . I'd say the hailstones I
was seeing were maybe a half-inch in diameter - enough to cut my head and set off more than a few car alarms in the vicinity! I haven't even looked at the paint yet. Hopefully there won't be anything but negligible damage. Zach 1992 300CE |

We just had a 10 car (I think that's how many it was) pile up south of Seattle near Tacoma yesterday from a sudden hail storm. Closed the freeway for 3 hours. Didn't hear how big the hail it was.

Over the weekend, one of our local weathercasters said that the storm we experienced Friday and Saturday was the tail end of a "super typhoon." I haven't been able to confirm that, but I can tell you that in this part of the Central Valley on Saturday late afternoon, the wind was so strong that the buckets of water falling from the sky were falling sideways. I was attending my daughter's performance in the Nutcracker and afterwards and in less than a minute, the golf umbrella which served me through a week on the links in Scotland was useless and I was soaked to the bone. My good cars are in the barn until I'm sure that these weather systems have subsided (like next week sometime, I hear).
On the other hand, I can see the Sierras from my office and it's pretty cool. Groomed powder for Christmas! Time for the tire chains and a minitune on the Dynastars!

Talking about a hailstorm.
You probably remember the 280 S my girlfriend is driving. Well, just four weeks after she bought the car it got hit by a hailstorm in western Austria with hail about 2" thick. The cars parking next to it got the windshields smashed. On her car every piece of metal, every piece of chrom trim got damaged. Well, we kind of live with it now, it shows, that the car has some history. Kind regards Eberhard |

Eberhard,
Is that a tube of wheel bearing grease in the passenger footwell? Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |

My neighbors huge Stone-pine came down into the street all the way over to Benzina and tore the drivers mirror-not completely off, but it is sagging down. Haven't had a chance to look to see if I can fix it, or buy a new one
New ones for the coupe are probably not cheap...
