Finally time to go to the track

Well for the first time in a very long time I have a Friday night off and guess what I'm going to do with it....... That's right take the BMW to the track. I plan to change the oil Friday morin after I change the cap, rotor and spray some carb cleaner into the throttle body. I have been working on my shifitng like you guys suggested and Thursday night me and some friends are going to the go cart track (mini drag strip) to try and get adjusted to the lights. Any last tips on what I should do? Tire pressure suggestions? Should I take the subwoofer box out or leave it in for extra wieght over the rear wheels?

Work on your Reaction Time (R/T)...that's how you beat the other guy, at least coming off the line.

Don't wait for the green-if you see it you're already late! Try leaving when the last yellow illuminates-if your R/T is still poor, try leaving when the second yellow goes out.

I think there's a threshold, if your r/t is under .4 or something I think they call you on it.

.5 is considered a perfect reaction time...so anything over that is okay.

Michael offers GOOD advice - you are WAY late if you wait for the green. Based on the car - you should start about the time the second light goes out or just when the third yellow comes on - you will see.
Also, the later in the evening (darker) it gets you will have to adjust for that some too. You'll see.

Leave the sub-woofer alone Dan. It is not going to make enough difference to matter.

ok I will I wasnt sure if the 100 pounds in the tool box and subs would make a diffrence. but then again the extra 100 pounds on me is the big killer

Reaction time.

Slightly o/t but this is a pet peeve. Why does it take the average Joe or Sheila 4-5 seconds to start after a stop light. By the time the 4th car is moving 20 seconds have past....and the light has just turned yellow. It takes me less than 2 seconds to react and have a smooth and wimpy take-off after a stop. Even less if I’m in a hurry. Dang it! I hate all these slow drivers!

Kuan- I went to AutoZone but they don't have any over 5 feet tall I wanna be cool I want to scrape over passes.

How about those who stop a car-length behind the stop line or crosswalk...what are they doing? One time a lady left about 3 car lengths in front and I just drove around her. Man, was she steamed...honked and gave me the finger!! I thought she had stalled or something.

Need2speed, they teach us that in driving school. Its so that if someone rearends you, you dont go out into traffic. Its not worth the trouble however. I did it in my young drivers test, then never again.

I second that... they also said to leave enough distance at a stop light that you can see the other driver's back wheels.

However, my biggest pet peeve is when at night some *#@$(#@& behind you decides to have his high beems on. I had that happen to me recently when someone in either an escalade or navigator was following me for like 4 miles.
