evolution

Does anyone out there really believe that we were created by evolution over millions of years on "this" planet earth? Why? How? Doesn't seem possible to have such a great variety of people evolving from the same "man" or "woman" from somewhere in Africa millions of years ago. Besides, we, including a great variety of mammals(humans as well as animals) have basically the same body parts which function in exactly the same way. No need to say the head is at the front, tail or coccyx at the other end, 4 arms/legs, necks, heart, brain, lungs, kidneys, blood and so on. All these organs work basically the same way with the blood providing the "fuel" and the nervous system(nerves, etc) providing the electrical circuit to control everything and the brain the "computer". Such amazing complexities cannot be evolved, but had to have been created. By whom, what, from where???? Thats the 6 million dollar question. Then there are thousands of other organism which don't look like us starting from fish, birds and reptiles which basically also have the same bodily functions and "basic" similarities like brains, skeletons, head and tail where we expect them, blood, skin, legs, wings(hands with feathers), fins(hands with webs) and so forth. Then we have the other basic organisms like jelly fish, molluscs and others which are very different, but have the same basic functions maybe some other way around. Then we have the insects, also very different, but also having the basic bodily functions. Then we have the plant life which are very different and work some other way around. Then we have the micro organisms which again are different and we don't see them unless under a microscope. To top it all, we all live on this zillion in one chance which is EARTH in this solar system in this boundless, limitless universe. How did this come about??? I am not being anti-anything, not against religion, just totally intelligent enquiry. Who has the "correct" answer and not fiction or just group pressure of a human kind?

You got it!

Why?
Because, to me, "old earth" evolution seems much more plausible than the "young earth" creationist theories that float around in the public eye.

How?
My parents had a subscription to National Geographic before I was born. I got into looking at the pictures in them when I was four or five, and the rest was history.

A bunch of old Time-Life scientific texts were also pretty instrumental, also, including one titled "Evolution" of all things.

The real difference between so-called "evolutionists" and other (usually religious-based) theorists is not in the answer, per se. The difference is in the process.

Science-based approaches start with a blank sheet of paper and build a paradigm based on the evidence that they collect. If the evidence changes, the paradigm changes. Creationists (as an example) start with a pre-conceived notion, and look for evidence to support it. What doesn't fit, is chalked up to probabilities and the unknowable.
