Value of non-original 250sl?
What is a really nice 250sl worth with a fresh 280sl engine?
It had all rust repaired, paint stripped and two tone paint applied which is not the original color. The paint has a few blemishes. The interior looks really good, but the wood could use some help, though. The top is very nice. Thanks for your opinions.

Most people really couldn't tell the difference since they look so much alike. The only problem would be getting a specific part, such as a piston or rings. The car would also have slightly more power.
As to the value, can't say. IMHO.

I am buying the 250sl alluded to above. I am getting it
for $16K. The shell, paint and rebuilt engine is worth that, as far as I can tell. I see these cars selling from $8K to $35K so it is hard to go by sales listings. I am very happy and feel that this car is worth $16K, minimum and that it will not depreciate like a new car would. Actual deliver will wait for spring.
