I never started, so I don't know what it is like to quit. I do know
people that have had a very hard time quitting. Feel free to
post messages here every time you don't know what to do with
your hands. You are fighting a lot of technology that was
designed to keep you addicted. Use anything you can to fight
back.

GOOD LUCK!

had a two pack a day habit and quit 20 yrs ago. the first 3 days are the worst (followed by the 4th, 5th, 6th) . i remember after a couple of weeks i took a puff and it tasted awful - made me stay off. i guess those patches and gums make it even easier nowadays. hang in there!

Hang in there. I smoked a pripe for 26years and used the patch to quit. Then about 5 years ago I started on cigars. Wasn't long until I was up to about 6-10 a day( not the expensive ones but the 5 for $2.50 type. 2 years ago I quit cold turkey. For me this is best way to stop bad habits. I will admit I still miss them but I know what you are going through. One thing that I keep thinking about when I have the urge is how bad my mothers in laws '79 300SD smelled inside. She smoked for 60 years. The headliner was brown( supposed to be white). I sold the car and it was it great shape but everyone that looked at it commented if it was a smokers car, like they couldn't tell.

Best of luck

I quit for a year then went back, nto because I needed a cigarette, but because I let my stress get to me.

The best thing I can say to do is to keep yourself busy doing other things.

I did it cold turkey, woke up one morning and just said thats enough, and all was well.

The first couple of weeks are hard if you let youself think about smoking. I kept myself busy, and was able to let go.

I hate the fact that I went back to smoking, rather than start back up, I should have worked on relieving my stress.

Good luck, I know you can do it.

Alon

Quit 20 years ago when I was doing a pack and a half a day, more if I was drinking. I quit cold turkey. I woke up one day and decided not to smoke any more. It is not as hard as you may think. Just remember what makes you wanting to quit to begin with and stick with it. Good luck, its the best thing you can do for yourself.

I quit about 2 months ago. I was a pack a day for 10 years. New baby helped me finally do it. Best advice is to keep busy. I have put on a few pounds, but that will be easier to get rid of than the smoking habit I hope. Good Luck! You can do it!

I don't smoke but my friends all smoke. I really respect people who could quit smoking. I think it's really hard to do. Even my smoking friends have the most respect for you guys.

Keep it up.

I smoked for 26 years. It got to the point where the only place I could smoke was in my car or outside. On Oct. 28, 1993 I ran out of cigs around 9:00 pm. Not wanting to drive 10 miles round trip to get one, I just put off buying some till the next morning. Well, I still haven't bought any and hope I never do! Tell ya what I did do. For a couple of weeks after I stopped, I would take a drinking straw, cut it off at cig length, and draw on it. This satisfied my habit of having something in my hand and I learned to breath fresh air instead of poison. An added bonus is that I have saved over $10,000 in this period by not smoking. Wait a minute... so that's where the money to by my MB came from!!
