Good news in Atlanta...

More dead and dying criminals!

We had three predators try to rob an owner at his convenience store last night. The owner’s name is J.C. Adams. He’s 74 years old and doesn’t get around all that well. He has to use a walker to move about his store. J.C. works day and night to take care of his needs and to be a self-sufficient member of society.

Last night we had three completely worthless pieces of snake squeeze come in to J.C.’s convenience store with their guns. It’s much easier to rob an old man than to actually get a job, right? Well … J.C. had a shotgun. He had a shotgun, and he wasn’t afraid to use it Now we have one predator taking the eternal celestial dirt knap. Another predator is in the hospital fighting for his worthless life, and the third is in jail with charges of murder and armed robbery.

So … my character flaw? I love the fact that one predator is dead. Good. He has been removed from society and will never threaten anyone again. The world is better off today without this jerk using perfectly good oxygen molecules. I hope he remained conscious long enough to lay there in a pool of his own blood thinking about things might have turned out for him if he had actually worked for his money. I rejoice at the suffering of the predator currently in the hospital. I hope he is propped up in that hospital bed in wrenching pain thinking “Man, here I am all shot up. I may die. I really screwed up and even if I make it out of here I’m going to jail.” And I am thrilled that predator number three is in jail facing a murder charge over the death of his partner in crime. He’ll have a long time to think about what a loser he is.

J.C. Adams has a quote for us. “Let them make their own money. Quit trying to take mine.” Good for you, J.C.

--excerpted from boortz.com today...but it might as well be my own writing, because I agree COMPLETELY!

On the other side of the pond....and the other side of gun control...

BRITISH CRIME RATES UP

In 2002 the rate for gun crimes went up 35% in Great Britain. This is big news in England. Fact is, gun crime rates have been going up steadily in England ever since the British government essentially banned the private ownership of guns.

This is the same experience we have seen across the US. When states make it tougher for individuals to own and carry firearms for their own protection, the gun crime rates go up. When the law makes it easier for someone to own and carry a gun for protection, the crime rates go down. Criminals love gun control laws. They prey on people who obey the law. They know these people will get rid of their guns .. thus making things easier for the predators. England is learning that lesson now.

Amen, Mike, couldn't agree with Boortz more. I was through 2 armed robberies myself , years ago, and wish I had had the shotgun.

hear hear on those scumbags suffering a lot of pain.but i cant disagree more on the gun control issue.up here in the great white north guns are not in wide and easy distribution and i feel a lot safer.i beleive economic and social disparity has a lot to do with the root cause and no amount of hardware will change that

While I'm not a gun owner, I don't think gun control will be any more effective in reducing crime any more than banning knives will reduce the demand for steak!

Remember how effective prohibition was in reducing public desire for alchohol?

People struggle with good and evil intentions regularly, and there isn't much to control how one chooses to motivates his/her intent.

If the threat of a fine, public humiliation, incarceration, or death isn't enough of a deterrent to prevent someone from committing a crime, why should gun control be any different?

The sad thing about it is that the injured scum will turn around and sue JC and probably win.

Well, hope criminals aren't reading this board. Now they know they won't get shot if they try to rob you! I say that with some seriousness, and also partly in jest.

Good for JC. Too bad the story was ruined by Boortz's inability to say anything without talking about gun control or "get a job you lazy fool". BTW I think its important to note that very few people in the American anti-gun movement want to ban shotguns and rifles, only cheap handguns (probably like the scumbags were using).

Guns no...other injury-inflicting weapons like swords, rapiers, and assorted medieval war tools...yes!

Canada had gun related homicides numbering 165 last time I read the stats (I think for 2001). That's 1 gun related death for every 187,787 Canadians. The same stat for the US was somewhere over 11,000 gun related homicides. That's 1 gun related homicide for every 25,000 Americans.

You Yanks have about 7.5 times the rate of gun related homicides that we do.

Carrying a gun is highly illegal in Canada. Owning a gun is not, but we have very strict controls over handguns.

If more guns equals less crime, then the US should be pretty much crime free, and Canada should be wrought with gun toting criminals gunning us down on every street corner.

Yeah, yeah...we know, John, that Canada is superior to the US in every way...You've made that clear in all the other debates we've had.

Well, let's see...both issues were quite relevant, and since he was posting on his own website, and the news story firmly backs up his point of view on both issues, then what reason would he have to not bring it up?

You think the "scumbags" were using legally obtained weapons? I SERIOUSLY doubt it, because they almost NEVER do! Banning handguns would have had ZERO effect on that situation. If someone has already disregarded the existing laws banning robbery, murder, terroristic threats, assault, and whatever else...then it is pretty naive to think that another law against cheap handgun ownership is going to suddenly deter them, isn't it? Let's concentrate on removing the SCUMBAGS that commit the crimes, and not the GUNS which on thier own can do NOTHING!

No, we're not. But when it comes to gun related crime, we're mid pack in a group with the US at the bottom.

And you're right. Gun control has some effects on crime, but not in the way that many other societal factors do. It's not that crime in the US is created by access to guns. It's that your much higher crime rates (compared to many other first world nations) mean more gun related crime, period.

I'm a big advocate for our right to bear arms. (I proudly directed the NRA's national television program for a couple years.) I'm trying to remember how many existing laws were broken by the boys who shot up the school at Colombine. Wasn't it something like 19?

It always ticks me off when people cry out for more gun control laws when all we should do is ENFORCE exitsting laws!!
