Who to send to negotiate with North Korea??
I nominate Jesse Jackson, Jimmy Carter and Richard Geer. None of them have any real power, so they can't really screw up, and after a week of having to translate them, the North Koreans will agree to anything!!!

Jimmy Carter. He's probably the most down to earth political guy ever. He's more of a guy who wants peace than conflicts unlike other leaders in this world.

Oh, yeah, Carter. Great man, but isn't he the guy who brokered the no nukes deal in '94 that the N Koreans broke about the time his plane left Pyongyang for Plains, GA?
Then Carter gets the Nobel peace prize (originally financed by the sale of explosives) a week before they Koreans admit they NEVER kept the bargain Carter struck with them. Now N Korea wants to negotiate a follow on deal. Anyone suspect their intentions? Honesty? Sincerety? But the Cap'n has a point.

Carter is the biggest dufus that ever walked this earth. The man is so naive that he still believes the Iran hostage situation was just a big misunderstanding. The best proof I'm right (as always! ) is the fact that the communists in Eastern Europe LOVED him even more than they loved Tip O'Neil (a Gufus in his own right).
Send Mr. ICBM, HE has an enormous power of suggestion. And send him soon, before these idiots nuke Japan just for show. BTW, wasn't China directly responsible for creation of North Korea?? Also, let's see who profits from this situation- Iran (we can't sqeez'em before taking Iraq), Al Qaeda, and (surprise) China who has been coddling to Iran for a while. Just follow the money trail

The Jimmy Carter notion is nuts. He cuts a deal and they laugh at him as he walks out the door. I do think negotiating with them is necessary but will not bear much fruit. Tighter security is needed on their food programs (isn’t ironic most of the food these communist use come from capitalist?). I think we need to force China to play a role because they don’t want them to have nukes either.

Frankly, why do the Americans have to negotiate with North Korea?
I would think that South Korea, Japan and China, who are all within missile range of North Korea, have the largest interest in reducing the nuclear capabilities of their neighbor. China is still the largest trading partner with North Korea and is the largest source of oil energy for them (not the shipments from the west) and would seem to have the most leverage. I would think about this more, but I feel like putting on Randy Newman's "Political Science" at the moment! |

If either were still alive I would send Slim Pickens or Peter Sellers.
That scene from Dr. Strangelove where Slim is sitting on the bomb as it drops waving his cowboy hat is a classic. |
