"How do you fill your tank?"
Just wondering how does everyone fill their tank? Till the first click, or till the gas is "dribbling out"? For me, I squeeze everybit I can until it starts to come out.

Stuff as much fuel as I possibly can. I like to maximize the distance between refuels as I fill the tank twice a week.

Let it click off, then maybe a bit more to even up the dollar/cents amount so I don't end up with a pocket full of pennies and nickles

On long trips (with the ML), I fill until it practically dribbles out.
On a daily basis, just until it clicks...unless it's close to an even dollar amount, then I play that game! ![]() Had a pretty interesting looking monthly invoice one time when I had a perfect streak of fill-ups with even dollar amounts!

I can remember just a few years ago when it was cheaper to drive my 3/4 ton truck than the old Suzuki Samurai to and from work.

Howdy All,
I fill to the dollar. Or I fill it to the prepaid amount.

What could get damaged in a 126 if I fill it till it trickles out? I have been doing this for a long time already and car has no change to it.

It depends:
W126: First click and then about 3 litres, before clocking into the nearest dollar. W124: First click, and round up to nearest dollar as it will be full. W123; same as 124. W202; same as 124. The Honda Accord we have has a low tolerance of extras when the click is heard. So stop whatever you're doing.

Fill to the click and round up a little if I can get to an even number. I also always hold a paper towel below the tip of the nozzle while inserting and removing to catch any dribbles.

Today I refilled the tank of my 86 420 SEL. The price per gallon of 91 octane was $2.13. I trickled the petro in as slowly as molasses on New Years Eve in Oslo. I guess my reasoning was along the lines of "chew slowly and longer - it makes you feel full faster".

If I fill it slowly will I get more in the tank? Is their a trick or something to filling slowly?
