I watched his show as a kid...
...that was 35 years ago. As much as I enjoyed mimicing his dialog and the signature sweater and deck shoes he donned upon entering the set, he was refreshingly wholesome when you consider what TV has made available to children these days. I'll miss him too.

My generation was in their teens by the time he became popular, but my kids grew up with him. At the time I could hardly stand watching his show, too cheesey for me. But I respect the person he was, and what he tried to teach kids. Maybe if Saddam had grown up watching Mr. Rogers.........

I grew up watching him too. Mostly, I remember the great jazz that accompanied him around "town". Yeah, even some kids like jazz...
Ditto what Eric said about Mister Rogers. They don't make them like he or his program anymore-- most kids don't know how to appreciate it. |

I used to watch him all the time. For some reason, there was one episode that stands out in my mind where he goes to a crayon factory. I'm not sure how I would have turned out without the show, and I'm worried about todays kids growing up without a mentor/role model like him. Instead, they're looking up to pornstars and action heros. Maybe someone like him will step up to the challenge of replacing his spot

I loved that crayon factory show... it was mesmerizing watching all the steps that went into making them... the brass bells show was great also...Thank goodness for video tape... none of those shows will ever be lost...He will live forever in our memories.

I thought it was just me
My son 4 ,daughter 15mo. and ME(still) watch MR.Rogers in (I guess) syndicated Rerun all the time. I still like watching picture/picture because of the neat things he shows. I saw the making of tooth paste, the trumpet, grape jelly, strawberry Icecream, Tofu, and many other things. It really is a terrific show. Glad I have kids(in my old age) that allowed me to reaquaint myself with and now mourn the loss of an old friend...
