New E-Class Quality

Now that they have been out for a while, does anyone know how the new E-class has been as far as reliabilty? From just sitting in it, there seems to be alot better fit and finish but thats all I really know of.....

I heard that they are disconnecting faulty computers in some of them, until they have worked out the problem.

Now I wont say who specifically told me, but it was told to me by a trusted mercedes dealer employee friend of mine. Who told me germany instructed them to disengage some computers. They dont affect the car's driveability, but they do affect something otherwise what the hell are they doing there in the first place.

JD Power recently rated Jaguar OVER Mercedes in reliability. Has hell actually frozen over?

by the way, onthe note of all these surveys, my father has had his sl500 for just a tad over 2 months, and has put less than 1500 miles, and he has been sent all kinds of satisfaction surveys. Now how can they base a survey of someone who has drivent he car less than even an oil change and who hasn't even owned it for more than a couple of months? What kind of results will you get form that? probably crappy ones at best.

In the first two weeks I had my car, it has been flawless. Is that the kind of responses they want in their survey's? I don't think so, why not survey these people at the end of their lease, not the beginning?

Then you would have a better figure to base your reports on wouldn't you think?

I agree. I think reliability reports on one or two year cars are virtually worthless. Each car has a different reliability curve. I'm sure those Jaguars will be in pieces in another decade.

My friend at the MB dealership back home told me the same thing. He said that everything has been exceptional so far except for the computers that are controlling the Airbags, he said he has gotten several false readings from their onboard computers telling them that the airbags were nearing deployment.. Scary. Could you imagine riding down the highway and your airbags deploy on you?? I don't think it's all models just a few!!

woah... that's not just a little thing you can disconnect. Imagine even worse getting in a crash without your airbag inflating!
