Got him.....maybe
This is unlikely but it would be tremendous if we got him this early.
CBS: 'Senior Officials' Think Saddam May Not Have Survived Thu Mar 20 2003 10:33:00 ET "I am being told by several senior officials not to take that taped speech Saddam gave last night as proof that he survived the attack," CBS NEWS reporter David Martin said on air. "They say the evidence that put him in the bunker last night was very reliable, and they are confident that the cruise missiles and bunker-busting bombs that were fired at that bunker last night hit the target. So now, intelligence experts are studying the tape to determine if it is really Saddam, or a body double which he is known to use from time to time. And they are running a computerized voice analysis, comparing that speech with known recordings of Saddam's voice. But that's a process that takes awhile. So we may not have a quick answer." CBS adds that there is "is considerable belief in this government that they may, in fact, have gotten Saddam." Developing... |

what a bizarre tactic, yet brilliant. surely no one expected this. a perfect window of opportunity, at least it seems that way at this point. yet the president feels this will take longer than we may have anticipated. i hope it is short and sucessful.

I also thought the 'Saddam' on TV looked a little different. Glasses are a good way to confuse the issue, since the eyes can be so distinctive. I also believe that I have not seen Saddam reading from a written statement - this was also strange. Hopefully he's a goner.

I believe one of the real tip-offs is that he waves, and the lines on the palm of his hand does not match the palm of the "real" Saddam! Intriguing!

Eyewitnesses Report Seeing Wounded Saddam Being Carried From Compound
Fri Mar 21 2003 10:32:01 ET Intelligence sources now say there were eyewitnesses at the scene where Saddam Hussein's complex was bombed on the first night, ABC reported Friday morning. John McWethy, ABC's national security correspondent, said on air: "Those eyewitnesses say that they saw Saddam Hussein being taken from the wreckage on a hospital gurney, that he had an oxygen mask over his face. In addition, intelligence sources say that there is a lack of communication between Saddam Hussein's office and his main commands and the rest of his government. "They are interpreting that as meaning that there is some problem with his health. So they are optimistic that something has happened to the leader of Iraq, but they are still extremely cautious about what his condition is." Developing... |
