this is sorta stemming off the SUV thread, but I was wondering what gas mileage everyone else gets. If you leave a reply with the car and mileage, it would be appreciated!

I have a 450SL that gets 13-16 mpg.

In the 190D 2.2, I average right at 40 mpg mostly in town. In the 108 bodied MB, about 12-ish (eeek).

I'm talking about benz's... If I find out that most cars get 16 or less, there would be no point selling my car!

Howdy All,
I voted the mpg of the vehicle that is driven the most. The PT Cruiser gets between 24 and 29mpg according to the sticker. I have gotten 30mpg. The Jeep gets less than 19mpg. And for the Mercedes. People that have kept track say the 404 Mog with gas engine gets 13mpg at its best.

Hey good topic.

My E300D gives me 32 mpg city short cycle driving and highway mpg range is 36 to 38 for long cycle. (Diesel)

The Pilot gets 24 in mixed cycle (Regular Unleaded) Classified as a ULEV-Ultra Low Emission Vehicle.

The Element is still on its first tank of gas so can't say but expect about 24 as well. (Regular Unleaded) Classified as a LEV.

Rolling Cottage varies a lot 10 - 15 mpg (Diesel)

in the 533 as low as 12 maxing out about 24mpg. Ahh I miss the 500 and the 22mpg all the time

Hey, what happened to the >35+ option?? The 190 2.2 never drops below 30, and my main mode of transportation, my V4 efi motorcycle gets 42, well my KTM thumper normally gets around 50mpg. (With a 7.5gal tank my butt hurts big time, by the time the reserve light comes on!)

I get about 40-42 sometimes higher on long trips.

The 280SE gets 15 ish
The 420SEL gets 17ish
The 300D gets 25ish
The E420 got 23 last time the ignition module worked.

'02 C32 gets 18-19 in my routine city driving. 21+ highway.

I think that's amazing mileage for this car, and I'm not babying it. (~350hp, and it's a Benz, so naturally it's kinda heavy

)

Hello Robert,

You have a great car and if you really like it I would suggest that you keep it and not worry to much about the gas mileage. Once way back in the late 1970's when we experienced the first gas crunch I got shook and traded a nice 76 Impala for a Datsun 210 just so I could get better mileage. After the fact I decided to really investigate the difference in cost and as best I can remember was that I would have to drive the Datsun for around 7 years to break even, which I did not do. At the end of that situation I realized that I would have probably came out better by keeping the Impala a car I really liked.

I assume that your 450 is paid for and there is a lot to be said for that. Also when I was around your age I owned a 1964 Corvette, and I am sure I do not have to mentioned how many times I have wished that I would have kept that car.

Robert if you really like your 450, keep it and keep it in good shape and when you are 30 you will be glad that you did.

it is my daily driver, but I'm nearing the end of all it's problems (or so I think). All I have left is the seals on the hard top (lotsa wind noise) and a gasket on the exhaust manifold went (makes that annoying ticking noise). Aside from that, it's a good car. It did cost a bit to get it where it is right now, it seems that when it sat for years, all the rubber parts, and some gaskets and seals went. This included belts, hoses, tires, seal on tranny (most expensive!), gasket on water pump, exhaust maniflod gasket (not fixed yet), and window seals (not fixed either). I am seeing the light at the end of the repairs tunnel, and it's good to me for an old car. I just feel like I'm ruining the car by racking up miles with daily driving.
