Missing U.S. Soldier Rescued

Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command announced a U.S. Army POW held captive in Iraq had been rescued from an Iraqi hospital and returned to a "coalition controlled area."

Pentagon officials confirmed the rescue of Army Pfc. Jessica Lynch, 19, who had been listed as missing in action after intense fighting near Nasiriya on March 23. (Full story)

Lynch, a supply clerk with the 507th Maintenance Company from Fort Bliss, Texas, suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the ambush that led to her capture and had to be moved from the hospital with special care, Pentagon sources said. (What happened to the 507th?)

A relative told CNN from Lynch's hometown of Palestine, West Virginia, that she was taken to a hospital in coalition-controlled territory and Pentagon sources said she was in stable condition.

The rescue operation was planned for several days and involved U.S. Marines and special operations forces, the Pentagon sources said.

She suffered "multiple gunshot wounds" in the ambush.

Thank God she's alive.

I saw her Dad on fox News...

...and he said that she went to the prom wearing a ball gown and army boots. What a gal! What a gal!

While women in Afghanistan and Iraq, and other muslin countries, must wear burkas and their men keep a boot to their neck, American women wear boots into combat.

God bless America!

Great Rescue Operation

Congratulations to the special operations for bringing her back. From this point forward we should go after the MIA and POWs asap once notified. Watched the news report on the town and the state, VA sends more people into the armed forces than any other state on a percentage basis!

Here is to Jessie may she recover fully and quickly.

kinda puts " your Mama wears army boots" in a different light. Of course, this is one American idiom that completely lacks any derogatory connotation to me. Sometimes it's good to be ESL!!!
