Sliced Up Seats

Last Labor Day someone got into my 1989 300SE and cut up the two front seats. I've been trying to find some nice used replacements but with no luck. I've been checking Ebay and Silverstarrecycling.com but with no luck. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Sorry to see that. Hope you find some seats!

how sad! that makes me ILL!!

comprehensive insurance will cover the reupholstery with a deductable of about $250 probably. think of it this way, you spend $250 to get brand new seats. all you really need are new leather covers which will run you about $1,000, add $200 to put them in.

good luck and keep us posted

This (still) frustrates me so much, I'm thinking about dumping my poor "Ruby" and buy what I REALLY wanted in the first place...a Garnet 560SEC....

.....Yeah Baby.......Yeah!!!!

Have you tried Potomac German Auto in Frederick MD?

They know these cars and are honest; I've been dealing with them for years.

Ask for Pat 1-800-831-7686.

i'll have to ask for pat next time as well... everyone else ive talked to there seems kind of rude and short.

kelly, make sure you get a free estimate from a body shop on replacing those covers. then submit that estimate to your insurance. let's say the estimate is $1,200... they will send you a check for that minus the deductable. then you can get the seats from potomac german auto or wherver for less.

My insurance company has already "lined my pockets". I have no interest in having my seats re-upholstered...they'll never be the same!!!

What I want is a set of original seats to replace exactly what I have now. Every other aspect of "Ruby" is near perfect. The only other tasks that I've given myself is to have the wood replaced in the center console (it has a few very minor cracks here and there) and the anntena replaced (OEM, of course).

This car looks brand new and now with replacing the seats, it's going to be even better! I would really like a CD changer, but I just don't want to modify anything.

I've been seriously thinking about buying an ML430...what's everyones thought about that model?

i think that replacing this seats with used ones from potmac german auto would look worse than reupholestering. as picky as i am about the appearance of my car, i would not settle for anything less than perfect when re-upholestering... and i know it looks just like new when you get it done by the right place. just buy the OEM leather covers and you're set.

i don't understand why you don't/won't [maybe can't?] use your insurance company??

what do you mean "they've lined your pockets?

"they'll never be the same!!!"

huh?

if you have your seats reupholstered with new seat pads and m.b. hides, they should be as good as new.
