insane hp in the S55
i find it absolutly amazing that AMG can tweak 493 hp out of a v8. imagine what you could get out of a v12?!

Mercedes is getting similar horsepower out of thier new bi-turbo v12 but with almost 690ft/lbs of torque. It is the most powerful mass (a few thousand) produced engine in the world.
Renntech has already gotten their hands on the SL55. By reprogramming the ECU they boosted hp by 15 and 15lb/ft torque, a larger crankshaft pulley and performance package add 27hp and 20lb/ft torque, and free flow exhaust system adds 20hp and 27ft/lbs. This brings the total up to 540hp and 575lb/ft. They claim a 0-60 in 4.1

There is a new CL65 AMG coming out that is going to make 612hp and 740 ft/lbs of torque!
It is a bored and stroked V12 with an increase in boost to 20 psi. I guess Mercedes figured the twin turbo V12 wasn't good enough so they handed it over to AMG to bring it to a more acceptable level

Gas goes up and so does horse power. It makes no sense when you think about it but.... To me It makes sense when you hear the massive power go by.
I remeber reading that VW had a 1000bhp engine ready to go into some preformance car they were producing I wonder if we are ever going to see the germans agree on a HP limit like the 155mph cut off
