Thanks for the little taste of home.

Last spring I asked TXBill if he could post a shot of the bluebonnets and indian paintbrushes gracing the interstate shoulder because I missed seeing them. Unfortunately he wasn't able to. I have some bluebonnet seeds and have tought about spreading them around the front yard, not sure if they'd take in California and it would surely tick off the HOA.

Mike , I am sure they would grow well there... they have seeds for red, white, and blue now... in case that gives you any ideas...
However, they need to be planted in the fall.... so they would probably get their heads mowed before blooming in a HOA situation... LOL

It's spreading to my neighborhood. You reckon the diesel fumes are causing these genetic mutations?

Oh the picture isn't just for my enjoyment . I thought it would be great to share with all the poor folks who have never had the opportunity to see a Texas roadside covered in bluebonnets and indian paintbrushes. I miss springtime in Texas.

Paul , that is a good article... In the last 30 years we have had this 30 acres we have had as many as 25 plants in one year which were white... I am converting to tifton85 bermuda so we have very few bluebonnets total... and two are white this year....
Only seen a couple of the pink....
A DrParsons from A and M called for people to send him white and pink seeds and they are now available commercially ... block planting of them would be fun....

I like the bluebonnets, but hate what they represent - the all too quick coming of another stifling summer where the air is too damn thick to breathe.
