2004 Amanti
Greetings!
Know what you get when you put all of these design features in the same car? *MB E-class ellipsoid headlamps and character lines that blend into the hood, * Jaguar S-Type grill, * Infinti Q45 C-panel, * BMW 745-ish trunk that raises higher than the beltline? http://www.kia.com/041703.shtml The 2004 Amanti. By Kia! I honestly don't know what to make of this......

Good for them. Double wishbone front suspension, multilink rear, if this things ends up being reliable, decently fun to drive AND a bargain, then I'm happy for them. They may be stealing styling cues, and they may not be innovators, but it's a new company struggling to make some sales. It doesn't look half bad. You do what you have to do to stay in business. I hope it turns out to be a good car.

Kia is a car company not unlike Toyota decades ago. They have deravative styling, so-so quality, and are often laughed at.
Anyone laughing at Toyota today? They could pull it off, and make a go of it. Auto makers should not repeat history and underestimate up-starts.

They aren't very reliable, true, but they really are like a brand new company. I think that given a few years, five or six, they'll really develop themselves. Besides, I think the Sephia is one of the cheapest cars around and it comes with a 10 year warrenty. It's a good car for people who really don't have a lot of money but who also don't want to borrow a lot or buy used. Give them time.

That grill looks like it was lifted out of a mid-fifties Studabaker Hawk

They have be around to honor that warranty I think the car looks ok, but that rear window trunk line reminds me of a Chrysler Lebaron and anything that reminds me of that makes me want to spit out my coffee.

Kia is owned by Hyundai, so it will be around for a while. The quality is improving. A car like that is attractive to those that want an upscale new car but can't afford it. Take the badging off and most people would be fooled. Personally, I will stick to used MBs until I can afford a new one.

I definatley would never buy a kia, but I know some people it would be good for (not very affluent, and mechanically disinclined). I think they have quite a ways to go before they can provide ANY competition to honda/toyota/mazda.
