Here's another sports car.
Your Lamborghini reminded me of the project I did for my kid's cubscout project. It was fun. Design of this car is ofcourse copyrighted |

Haha, that shamed mine! But all I had was a little rat saw so I don't feel all that bad. I wouldn't believe it was a block of wood if it wasn't for those BSA tires on the side!

I remember the pinewood derby races... I didn't win all the time, but my dad helped me make some cool cars. I really think scouts is a great thing for kids to get into, because it promotes many good moral values.

Funny coincidence!
My daughter attended a boy's birthday party this weekend. The theme was "race cars" and the parents got pinewood derby car kits for all of the kids to build and race! Being the meddling dad that I am, I spent far too much time detailing my daughter's car, and completing the exotic flamed front cowl with the purple-fade-to-blue paint job. Took third, but it looked great going down the track!

I'm not sure if any of you guys care, but one of my senior projects in college is to find out some of the methods used to make the pinewood derby cars go as fast as they can. We are putting the aerodynamic bodies in the wind tunnel and have photo sensors set up on a track to record times. We are compiling a website too with all our results. I'll post it if someone wants it.
Later, Giancarlo

I ran cub cars when I was a cub scout and generally did pretty well. I was at the provincial's twice.
The trick to making a cub car fast is in reducing rolling resistance. If the 'axels' are aligned just right, the car will be fast. Edit: I just had a look at the Pinewood derby page. That car looks remarkably similar to the fastest one I built. That must have been 20 years ago now |
