One BILLION dollars

Pepsi's new promotion where you have a chance to win one billion dollars got me to thinking. What would I do with all that cash? Personally, I'd buy a billion tacos:p How's about you?

In all seriousness, I'd give each member of my family $50million to do as they please. I would take then buy a penthouse apt in Chicago, a house in Whistler, build a 50 car garage and fill it as I saw fit. I'd restore all of my current cars to new condition. Then, I'd buy every season ticket in Lambo field so I can go to the Packers game alone and boo them

I'd buy a few countries, hire all my mercedesshop friends in the following positions:

VP of moderating and policy
VP in charge of counting most posts
VP of vintage benz 1900-1910, another for 1910-1920 etc.
VP of .....

I'll pay you all in cash for which you will be assessed NO TAXES.
No roads? Unimogs for all. No electricity? Mercedes Diesel generators. Best of all, STARMARK warranty for every Mercedes extended for 300 years!

Tech events every weekend, Mercedes racing round the clock on the Mercedes channel, three pointed star national flag...

Heh... heh

Start paying for my own tuition, rent, car insurance, etc. Pay for my parents' bills, etc.

Then I'd restore the 300CD-T and buy another project car in the meanwhile

Actually I'd probably buy a Ferrari F355 GTB Manual My dream car...

lol

However weird this sounds..
I'd start my own nationwide taxi company, made of Mercedes W123 chassis diesels. I'd buy as many 400 dollar cheapo ebay ones, fix them all up, and start a taxi company based in Boston. I'd undercut all the other smaller taxi companies, and people would probably think the 240D's and 300D's have a bit more prestige than the Chrysler K Car taxis that exist around my town.

Also, I'd have one of every Mercedes W123 model ever produced, fully restored. My daily driver would be a 1983 240TD station wagon, with a 4 speed manual.

Billion Dollars

I would get my wife a set of luggage and put them on the front porch. I would buy a date with J Ho and put new tires on my 48 IH KB5 with the UD 9 Diesel engine.

I would see how long it would take to get me fired from my job. I would then pay off all bills (of course), finish all of the incomplete projects around the house, and buy some land in Montana. I would then build my dream house there, move, and then begin to manage the winnings so that I would never have to work again. The investments would be so ultra conserviative, that the returns would be very modest. No matter though, with that kind of scratch, it would add up to a very comfortable living anyway.

Once settled in, I would then turn my attention to Yellowstone National Park. With as much as I love that place, I would be quite happy donating all of the time, money, and supplies needed to fix up the alarming backlog of maintenance and repairs needed to all of the buildings and services in the park.

I would also keep my residence as discrete as possible to keep the societal leeches off of my door.

I'd be the most miserable human being on the face of the earth!!!

You can't get that kind of money handed to you without a lot of public attention, so...

1) Your privacy is shot to hell.

2) Your loved ones' privacy is shot to hell, and possibly in danger of being kidnapped for ransom.

3) You can't go anywhere without media hounding you.

4) Everyone wants to write or film an unauthorized biography.

5) You make the tabloid headlines every other day.

6) Distant (and not-so distant) relatives want a "hook-up".

7) You think the "telemarketers" were bad, you haven't seen NOTHING yet!

8) People you don't know want to sue you for any frivoulous action they can come up with and ex-lovers (real or imagined) want to sue for paternity.

You can't go anywhere in public, so you will end up spending the bulk of it building a huge compound with all the amenities of a small town, so that you can live a basic life without interference from the outside world.

Do you really think that the mega-celebrities of the world build these gargantuan sites on their sprawling properties because they can, or because they HAVE TO?

If I were Michael Jackson (eccentricities excepted), I would probably consider suicide a lot!

I'm pinchin pennies these days, and our family does without a lot. But at least I'm anonymous enough that I am free to go about my daily activities without interference.

I'll bet you there are more than a few billionaires out there that would give a billion dollars to trade places with the rest of us if they knew what would have happened...
