IT Guys Partition Related Question

I had my Hard Driver partitioned and was running Red Hat at one time. It has since been removed, files deleted. I removed the partion made the entire section active but my computer won't recognize the "new" unpartitioned area. What have I forgotten to do?

Revelant Facts Sony Laptop, Windows XP, 15G hard Drive, FAT 32

What did you use to define the new partition? Fdisk?

The partition is set by Linux. Windows won't be able to recognize it without it being blown out. Do a search for partition resizer. I've used it to make Linux partitions usable by windows.

The partition was created before Linux was installed. All the Linux programing was deleted - it operated completely separate, not as a boot. The partition was elimated using Diskgen in a sterile DOS environment.

It may have been deleted, but it's still formatted for Linux. If you're sure it's gone, boot off a DOS disk, type fdisk, from the menu chose make partition active. Choose the inactive partition and then reboot. You should then have a drive letter assigned to the partition. You can use the windows xp utilities to format it. I would still use partition resizer. I've used it quite a bit and it works well if you're familiar with using the command line.
