Misplaced Aggression

After reading about Benzman500's latest accident and seeing that many posters feel that a lot of misplaced aggression is at that root of his incidents, I'm wondering if you think most aggressive drivers have some sort of "misplaced aggression issues" or if you think most aggressive drivers are just in a hurry to get to their destinations?

Also, do you think race car drivers are guys who have problems in life handling their aggression but realize this and get into racing or is it just the competitive aspect of driving that they truly enjoy?

If you're talking about road rage and aggressive drivers... here is my scoop on the issue.

I don't believe in this "misplaced aggression" junk. The anger comes from a psychological perspective. The driver has the urge to be in the front of the pack, and wants anything in the way to get out. If anything is blocking him or her... the driver becomes angry. I also believe that most of the aggressive drivers have a "racing" mentality once they sit in the car. They feel as if they are on a race course and reaching their destination is a race against time. This is how you have these crazy drivers changing 3 lanes at the time, excessively speeding, and not using their changing lane blinkers. Another possibility is that aggressive drivers hate the thought of wasting time. They speed, or do anything to get to the destination as soon as possible. While in the process, doing all sorts of dangerous situations.

Snibble, do you think race car drivers on a track actually become angry when they're racing? I've heard so many race car drivers say its just a game and they don't hold any hard feelings against the other drivers.

Wanting to get ahead and win is one thing, but I've never seen chess players get "angry"

No offense to anyone intended

No offense intended, but I see a great deal of aggressive driving from "kids" or "teenagers" if you will. I am not saying all of them are like this, but I see them and they really drive like maniacs. I guess when you are young and do not have a family or financial responsibilities or your parents buy you everything or your entire paycheck can be dumped in your car. Who knows? Just this afternoon a stupid teenager was driving fast though my neighborhood in one of those psuedo-race cars...you know the type (I am talking about...the kid who has really watched The Fast & Furious too many times.

In any case getting back t the original subject I think that the people that drive like that are not racers in shape or form, they just have some underlying personal issues with controlling others, ie..they can't let anyone pass even though 15 year old POS car is slow they will do anything and everything to pass somebody or not let others pass at all.
