Thumbs up LeFrance getting a taste?

JACQUES Chirac barely concealed his fury last night as he walked into an ambush by America and Britain over Iraq.

The French president was furious as Tony Blair and US leader George Bush hijacked his prestigious G8 summit and put weapons of mass destruction at the top of the agenda.

Seething Mr Chirac greeted Mr Bush with a frosty smile, a short handshake and a curt word of welcome to Evian in the shadow of the French Alps.

The body language was stiff and formal as the two met for the first time since the war.

Mr Bush is also planning to leave halfway through the summit today, after the briefest possible private meeting with his French counterpart.

Mr Chirac was under siege as he tried to use the summit for a grandstanding display of French diplomatic power.

In a costly flying circus world leaders were whisked from another summit in Moscow — arriving to find fortified Evian under siege as black-hooded anarchists rioted in protest against capitalism.

Leaders dined behind steel barricades as thousands of protesters defied tanks and teargas to hurl petrol bombs, scatter terrified families and wreck property. Trouble also spilled across Lake Geneva into neighbouring Switzerland.

Mr Chirac had planned to use the summit of the world’s most powerful industrial nations to embarrass the US over issues such as the environment and pollution.

But in a carefully planned pincer movement Mr Blair and Mr Bush stoked the campaign against rogue states, weapons of mass destruction, or WMD, and “dirty bombs”.

Mr Blair said as he flew into France: “We must state clearly that the spread of WMD and international terrorism is a pre-eminent threat to international security.

“This will be fleshed out in an action plan, in particular against radioactive source security. More stringent controls are needed on legitimate sources such as X-ray machines to stop them falling into the hands of terrorists.”

Russia will be given more cash to scrap chemical weapons stockpiles and find jobs for former chemical and biological warfare scientists.

President Chirac did deliver one counter-punch by blocking a key US move, backed by Britain, invoking power to stop and search any ship suspected of carrying WMD.

Last night he shrugged off questions about his personal relationship with George Bush, saying: “I have not the slightest worry in that regard.”

Taking flight ... chaos in Switzerland
A FAMILY with two young kiddies flees in panic from G8 summit protesters in Switzerland yesterday.

Riot police hit back at the mob — many campaigning against globalisation — with tear gas as they began looting. A 39-year-old British man suffered multiple fractures after police cut a support rope while he draped a banner from a bridge in Lausanne.

I remember an absolute 10 babe that lived near me that drove a Le Car, I was a little young at the time but when I saw her a few years later she did not have the car for me to drive, but the alternitive was much better

The handling was very unpredictable, yet fun to drive!

naaahh... WE are not. Not many people in the world really like France as such. Some French people are very nice on personal level, but as a nation- blah. Le Car was difficult to get use to because of a strong body roll. In very hard turns the car felt as if it was going to tip over. But here comes out my preference for small, fast, and nimble cars (say, WRX and EVO are perfect examples).

I still do not like France and it's attitude. And Chirac reminds me of a pervert with penchant for teen girls. Don't know why.

This talk of France reminds me of a joke I read several years ago that went something like this:

European Heaven
Police English
Engineer German
Organization Swiss
Chef French
Lover Italian

European Hell
Chef English
Lover Swiss
Police German
Engineer French
Organization Italian

Wonder which the United European States will be?

Well, based on the new EU constitution drafted by D'Estain, (one of those impossible to spell last name of a former French president- and you people complain about Polish names), Europe will be governed by France, Germany, UK and Russia. Oh, the Shadows of the Empire, or rather destructering of Poland (in the 1800's Poland was separated between Prussia, Russia and Austria and it ceased to exist as a country). Based on Times Europe, this is the next big fight in the EU. Does anybody have any doubts anymore about imperialistic ambitions of France??

Free Europe!! France out of Africa!!!!
