Honestly, I thought that picture was of a Pontiac Grand Prix. Not commenting on either car, just taking notice.

they say that the "smart steering" really works. It implements variable steering ratios via a planetary drive, with a differential action created by the inputs from the steering wheel and an electric motor.

All the reviews I've read say that it's marginally better in some areas than the equivalent E-Class.

This was a shock, since traditionally Car magazine journalists are violently pro-BMW.

I think it's safe to say that people with a more balanced viewpoint would decide that an E-Class is overall a better car.

The speed sensitive steering was described as a solution for which there was no problem.............

One thing would ensure that I never buy one though (apart from being broke at the moment) the thing is so UGLY that my neighbours would ask me to keep it garaged all the time

I wasn't the only one! I too thought it was a pic of the 04 Pontiac until I looked closer. I'm not a fan of the new "Bangled" BMW's. I think the outgoing 5-series was a super looking car, and the new one is just not the evolution that BMW owners look for.

The Z3 sold well, and the Z4 might be in some parts, but not here.

The W220 is outselling the new 7-series by a large margin. Our local BMW dealer has sales incentives on the 7.

If it wasn't for the successful 3-series and the current 540, our local dealer wouldn't be in such good shape.
