ANyone own a gibson SG
I am thinking strongly about buying a used gibson sg guitar.
I may trade in a epiphone les paul and an ibanez talman for it. Any opinions about the sg? Are they as good as the gibson les paul or american strat or are they a step down from that.' Or is it all a matter of taste at that point? Thanks bob c |

Gibson Guitar
I have an SG (left handed) it sounds great with a Marshall setup ,this is the same guitar that Angus Young uses.....What kind of amp are you using, also have you got the new Led Zep CD? I heard it is pretty good with Jones really showing his virtuosity

If you want a solid neck (not bolted) twin humbuck that doesn't weigh a ton (Les Paul Standard/Custom), the SG (Solid Guitar) is a classic. Great fret access and if you find one with the tapered neck, pretty fast action.

I am giving it alot of thought and cant wait to try it out. I got an 60s silvertone 1482. It is a 15 watt all tube amp that I just bought over ebay for about 150. I put another 150 bucks into it to get it rock solid. I put in nos tubes from the guy who makes victoria amps. I also put in a new jenson speaker. I tell you what solid state amps suck ass in comparison to tube amps. I personally think that the old point to point amps sound wonderful. A friend of mine has the 1484 which is about 30 to 50 watts with some old celestion speakers (from old marshalls) and my god is it evil. I must say that the old silvertones are great sounding amps for about half of the price of fender. Now if I could get some real tube reverb I would be in business.
I most likely can get the gibson for around 300 bucks or less. I like les pauls alot but the weight of them tires one out. Thanks for the imput. The first thing I will play will be hells bells bob c |
